Football Season 2014 - 2015

As requested here is the new season's thread.
Obviously the first picture has to be of the best team in the land winning 'last year's' Premier League title for the second time in 3 years.
At least the title stayed in Manchester Chris.
Hippo Head seems definitely to have reverted to type, with his love child KN played at every opportunity, even if his distinct lack of pace means it's like having 10 men.
Against a resurgent Liverpool we looked off the pace, Downing played out of position AGAIN to accomodate BFS' golden boy, umping it up to Carroll again... We are going backwards ever since fatty split up the brilliant Sakho-Valencia strike partnership to make way for his favourites, and I hope we see the end of Allardyce's reign of error when the season finishes.
The man is an absolute dinosaur.
That made me laugh, Kevin. You ought to have a column in the sports pages of one of the tabloids.
Still, according to my paper Carroll picked up an injury against Liverpool and is out for a couple of weeks so Sam is going to have to rethink his tactics.
Thanks MDS. Carroll or no Carroll, I suspect Hippo Head still play his love child though
'Arry's had to resign on account of his bad leg - nice timing, just after the window has shut!
Seems a lame (sic) excuse to me. Some managers have taken time out to recover from heart attacks and not resigned. Rats and sinking ships springs to mind. Odds on QPR going down must have shortened already.
...A dodgy start but eventually my mackems prevailed tonight in the cup at The Cottage and fair play to the 4000 fans who travelled down to watch - I sometimes wonder if the team deserve such a following ...44.000 turned up on Saturday against Burnley of all teams despite seeing only 1 sodding home win this season! - so ....is The Guardian right when Louise Taylor claimed this morning that Sunderland have the Premier League's most loyal fans?
I thought West Ham were brilliant yesterday against Butthead's spawny long-ball merchants. That is all. Man U were frankly poor, deeply unconvincing and are utterly undeserving of their current league position.
Only a matter of time before the Dutch tinkerman is found out methinks.
Man Utd were terrible, West Ham missed a great opportunity for a rare win against them. Poor header from Jenkinson for the equaliser

Noble missed one he should have put away as well.
What surprised me about Man U's performance against WHU was the seeming lack of work by their forwards. Never something you would see under Ferguson. West Ham's forwards worked the channels well, making United's defenders work hard. The Utd back four were never given time on the ball either. In contrast, RVP and Falcao were fairly anonymous when WHU had the ball, and seemed reluctant to look for space behind WHU's back four when MU were in possession. Di Maria looked their best player. I too think MU were somewhat fortunate to get a point, and the football they are playing at the moment doesn't equate with a Champions League position.
Lambert sacked as Villa manager. Surprised Lerner idn't get rid of him sooner. Where are they going to find a replacement at this late hour?
Curbishley's available. Knows where the ground is

Maybe Sherwood? He's apparently dipped out of contention for the QPR job.
Feel a bit for Lambert. Villa's not had much luck and his players haven't delivered for him but I suppose the manager always carries the can for lack of results.
According to the BBC Andy Carroll is out for the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury. Think he must be in-line to inherit Darren Anderton's nickname of "sick-note".

True - with Rooney in midfield United effectively lose a defender when the opposition have the ball.
RVP and Falcao are not working as a partnership. Also we lack cohesion when Carrick is missing - as was the case at the start of the season………..but when we start playing well it will be awesome

Darren Anderton? Kieron Dyer more like!

"When" being the crucial word. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
Bradford for the Cup!
- I nearly put "if" but decided that I should be more optimistic
On the subject of (sort of) Rooney in midfield - this amused me when I saw it earlier ………..
Oh PNE, how we rooted for you!
Look out the rest of the Prem! According to local print media, Soton have just signed the 'Cruyff of The Balkans, with a touch of Kaka', aka Filip Djuricic.

On loan? Came on as a sub in the West Ham game? No?
Dave
Sorry, i was a bit slack there. A loan signing. Also played as the over-age player (and scored) in the U21s game v Watford.
Chris

No "we" didn't
Well those of us without a prawn sandwich on brown, a squeeze of lemon, and half a bottle of Chablis apiece did

Butthead's long-ball cloggers got lucky again.
Some interesting results this afternoon at both ends of the PL and at the top of the Championship. Mourinho probably has a justified moan or two about the ref with penalty claims and Matic's red card.
Gives Man City an opening if they can defeat Newcastle. And what an idiot Barton is: booked seven games in a row and now a senseless red in the first half which probably cost QPR a point.
Meanwhile, I can't quite believe my lot's result way at Cambridge today. Have scored only six goals away all season and today we score six in one game! PUP
Hmm. Well, Man City didn't so much defeat Newcastle as undress them!
I was relishing what looked like being a delicious meal of mashed Spuds at Shite Hart Lane but the spawny little sods got a penalty 10 secs before the final whistle. Where on earth did the ref get 5 minutes of extra time from?
