Football Season 2014 - 2015

As requested here is the new season's thread.
Obviously the first picture has to be of the best team in the land winning 'last year's' Premier League title for the second time in 3 years.
At least the title stayed in Manchester Chris.
No sour grapes showing there Wat.
sour grapes?
Sounds like one of Delia's recipes: always avoid my least favourite cook.
The blessed Delia happens to be one of my neighbours, and a very nice lady she is too! The local vicar, after the Ipswich - Norwich game last week, asked if I would be kind enough to lob a brick through her window as I passed.
It was interesting to see so many teams with names starting with "B" doing well last season - including of course Boring Chelski
Devastating news for all Liverpool fans............apparently Balotelli is staying with LFC for next season.
Look out, Saints in Europe! (Just hoping it doesn't have the kind of affect on us that it's had on Everton and Spurs).

Let's hope he gets lots of games....it's always easier to play against ten men.

Or Hull?
Blatter's gone then...
err....not until they have elected a replacement, sometime next year at the earliest.
But yes, he's on his way out, at last !
Why next year Don? There is a special congress being worked on right now....it will be within 2 months I wager.
Better late than never, I suppose. But, goodness me, this would be worthy of a soap-opera. Can an international organisation receiving billions of $ really be this bad? It makes some of the big banks look like paragons of good governance and media-handling!

Early next year was what I (thought) I heard on the BBC news for a handover. Lets see what happens.
Clearly a fix, otherwise why not pull out last week.
Fishy like Mr Fish's bag of fish in Fishponds.

The PM programme reckoned December for the congress. Meanwhile, Mr Blatter is back at his desk at FIFA HQ today.

MDS I agree - quite appalling really. I guess one has to be ever so slightly careful until the current allegations are proved and individuals prosecuted.
But if I was part of the Qatar World Cup team I would be feeling a little uncomfortable right now... unless it actually was all squeaky clean..
Simon
Well boatloads of money will do that. My suspicion is that Blatter will be under indictment long before his December date for leaving. Word is that those already indicted are singing or will be singing in exchange for leniency. And I don't know that I'd be worried about getting tickets to Qatar in 2022.

That's what I heard. December for the congress and early next year for a handover - a bit like the US President gets elected in November but only takes up the Office in January.
But if he gets indicted, things might speed up I guess ?
I can’t see what all the fuss is about. Seems like a witch hunt me.
Is anybody actually suggesting Blatter has offered or accepted bribes. Bribery does go on, but there’s not a lot he can do if international football associations are run by villains. The president of the Sierra Leone FA was on 5 live this morning, she claimed Blatter was actively helping her stamp out corruption in her country.
Don’t forget he made the recipients of the £16,000 watches (apparently gifts) return them to the Brazilian FA. The English FA chairman received one, but he didn’t actually use it, so that’s OK.
There was an Australian on 5 live the other day, he was really hacked off. Apparently the Australians paid a huge sum of money to a Jack Warner, supposedly to fund stadium building, in return for votes for Australia in their world cup bid. The votes weren’t forthcoming for Australia and the stadium hasn’t been built. Lets see if the FBI start arresting any Aussies.

He's only the b****y President, or was, and some of the accused are on FIFA's Executive Committee!?!
You're not another relative?
Dave
Forgot to mention, well done Arsenal on winning the FA Cup. European football at St. Mary's next season.
Come on you Saints.

So lets assume FIFA's Executive Committee members where taking bribes. Do you think people make and accept bribes out in the open, it's usually done on the hush hush.
Unless he's in the know, he's powerless to do anything.
Don't forget, there are parts of the world where bribery is an everyday event.

Or just another currupt and greedy organisation to add to the list.

Congratulations.
I'm surprised our resident hammer hasn't been on, praising big Sam for getting them into the Europa League.
