Football Season 2014 - 2015

As requested here is the new season's thread.
Obviously the first picture has to be of the best team in the land winning 'last year's' Premier League title for the second time in 3 years.
At least the title stayed in Manchester Chris.
I quess you mean now Rodriguez as well as Lovern?
Can anyone remember any other club being poached, or potentially poached, of so many players in a single transfer window? Maybe hard to stop players wanting to go to Champions League teams. Only consolation so far is the transfer fees obtained. Koeman's first 2 signings look promising though.

Yup.
And as you say with Ronko's first signings, anything that gets Serbs and Croats smiling in the same team has to be good.

The other reason to be cheerful is SFC's first-class academy set-up which seemingly churns out good players year after year. Many clubs neglect that side of the business and it's to SFC's credit that it never has.
I recognise the one at the bottom as the new United manager, but who is the one at the top? Looks a mid-table kind of dude, not that anyone cares. It'll be the same top six as last year with possibly Spurs breaking into the top four courtesy of the best managerial appointment made for next season. It would be nice to see a change at the top with teams like Everton breaking through. And wouldn't it be great to see teams like Southampton, Stoke, Crystal Palace, Burnley, West Ham or Swansea finishing top ten.
I shall be watching the Championship as usual.
If you speak to Kevin he will tell you the chances of Spurs breaking into the top 4 are just less than Zero.
I to will be watching Chumpionship football next season, after 13 great years of watching all the top teams visit us,this coming season its the likes of Brentford and those very nice people from Milwall. Just got our tickets for a PSF next Sat at Crawley of all places.

I just think Spurs have acquired the best manager: whether it is enough remains to be seen.
Lots of great games in the Championship last year. Nothing wrong with Brentford or Rotherham who are there on merit, just like Fulham. Millwall, are OK: they have just had a bad press; you'll enjoy entertaining the Lions at the Cottage.
Are you getting rid of your manager: he was possibly the worst appointment last year. I expected you to dump him. We don't have anywhere as good players as you, but we have much better manager and owner. We had our share of bad appointments with Roy Keane, so we are very grateful to have return to playing as a team. It remains to be seen if Mick can work some magic.
Who do you support then Wat ?
The manager we have at present(McGoo) is a complete clown, and if he does not perform he will be gone by christmas trust me. Best manager we ever had was years ago,a guy called Chris Coleman. When Chairman Mo owned the club his hobby was printing P45s.When he sold the club some 18 months ago to a Mista Khan Mo gave him his printing press as part of the deal and it did not take the new owner long to work out how to print P45s also.

Compared to most on this thread, my club will be enjoying, again, the delights of League 2. But for the first time in quite a few seasons I am looking forward to this one with some optimism (as opposed to 'hope' which we all have at this stage until it is dashed by sharp dose of reality). In part this is because under Andy Awford my lot finished last season strongly and, with some additions, the squad looks reasonably strong and confident. But the greater source of my optimism is the progress in infrastructure. The club has finally secured its own training ground and is in the process of added facilities for the academy. This side of the club has been criminally neglected under previous regimes, even when the club was in the Premier League, and it has taken fan ownership to get it sorted. Of course the fruits of this investment will take time to see but it is all part of securing the well-being of the club in the long run.
Meanwhile, the fans look like they will be supporting the club again with season ticket sales at 10,500 already and set to outstrip last season's admirable total. So Fratton Park will be rocking at home games for sure.
PUP.
Separated at birth. ????????????
If he gets the boot from Man U he can always make a living promoting Brylcream !!

S/T sales of over 10,000 in league 2 IMHO is very good. Some clubs in that division are only getting gates of around 3,000.With such small income i dont know how they can stay afloat!!

I was kind of happy with our lot until we confirmed the purchase of our "killer" striker, Diego Costa, who on the big stage looks just as clueless as Torres has become.
MDS
i am glad Portsmouth survived: great bunch of supporters and I think you'll recover. Think Swansea and you'll know it can be done.
All the best, Wat
Thanks, Wat. Hope to be playing the Tractor Boys again one day. They always bring great support when visiting Fratton Park.

Things are looking quite rosy - a new training ground, improvements at Fratton Park, and a promising bunch of recruits, who looked pretty good at last Saturday's friendly against the Hawks. It was good to be able to cycle to the game.
Hello Wat
Yep went to the 10-1 game. You must be bloody old like me as it was a fair few years ago now.
Just got our tickets yesterday to come up to your gaff for the opening game of the season. Block V2 row C seats 1&2. Last year we did a lot of away trips on our coaches as it was free for STHs,this year they are charging so i`m going to drive. Plan is to stop at Witham on the A12 on the way up (w/spoons) for a few jars then eat there on the way back, unless you can recomend any pubs nearer to Ipswich. Got any recomendations for parking near the ground??
Mista H
One for Kevin
LOL
Just back from our PSF at Crawley, and on todays showing we will be lucky to finish mid table in the chumpioships.

I didn't realise we just let anyone in to our town.
Less than 4 weeks to go
I didn't realise we just let anyone in to our town.
Sorry H didn`t realise you owned Crawley, otherwise i would have asked first if it was ok to enter.
Not been to Crawley for years, almost didn`t recognise the place. We had a few pints in the w/spoons before the game and after the match a few more in the Brewery shades which was a bit of a dump.
CTFC need to badly sort out their bar at the stadium. People were 10 deep waiting to get a drink, and all they had was 4 people serving.....a joke. Chelsea hit town in a few weeks and they will fill the ground. The bar will be chaos,do you fancy a saturday job pulling pints ?
Mista H
Thanks Wat for the parking info. Will look it up on my AA map.
I thought the Little Chef chain had gone belly up!! For most matches both home and away we stick to a w/spoons as you can get a meal + a pint for a tenner. We do sometimes try other pubs.
I dont think any of our lot would go near a little chef,as we always have at least 2 pints before a game.
Taken from yesterdays Mail on Sunday(top paper).

If you get 5 mins have a look at the Blackpool fc website. With the season due to start in 2 weeks they only have 8 first team players, just about enough to put out a 5 a side team.

^ Having seen Saints at Bournemouth this evening, I'm not sure we even have that many. The word on the street is that Katrina wants to 'realise' her investment and that Schneiderlin and Chambers are off too. Plus Cardiff are tempting Fonte with serious wages...
And the signings so far with just over a month til the window closes.... Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic. Um. Didn't director Les Reed say Saints would reinvest their gains made in the transfer market?!
Chris
Just watched West Ham v Sydney FCC........I can tell you now."...it's going to be a long hard season, no change in style, a lack of imagination .....same old same old.....blah blah blah, from what I've just seen the spuds have nothing to fear first game of the season

...and Carroll out (again) for 4 months. Think he's inheriting the moniker "sick note" that Darren Anderton used to bear.

Liverpool look to have secured Lovren, too. Getting very close to the start of the season to start building a new team.

Lovren's history.
Talking of which, that's the trouble with Fonte too. Or rather history repeating itself. Just as there was nothing wrong with Claus Lundekvam as a player, his partnership with Michael Svensson made a great pairing. But Claus looked poor when Svensson was injured. Likewise with Fonte, now Lovren's gone...
A big part of the spine is missing. And it appears, in the boardroom too.
