Streaming NAS to ND5XS problem

Posted by: Ken Ploegaerts on 18 May 2014

As I do not have Apple-stuff, I can't use the n-stream-app yet.

I tried installing the kinsky app. Problem is, when I make a play-list, I can only play the song I selected. If that song ends it doesn't play the next song in the list. Even if I click on the 'next'-button it stops playing.

Is there any other software I can install on my laptop to play my music?

You also can use foobar2000. It have an upnp-plugin to play songs to your upnp-clients like the ND5XS. http://www.foobar2000.org

Or you use the bubble upnp server  as a "proxy" between kinsky and the ND5XS. http://www.bubblesoftapps.com/bubbleupnpserver/

Do you have a separate NAS, or are you running everything from your laptop?

Either way, I think JRiver is by far the best option. It can work both as a control point (controlling what's playing from an NAS/separate UPNP server) or as a control point + a UPNP server all on your laptop.

There's a million options, but once you get it set up, it works great. Can also do internet radio, podcasts, etc though not yet spotify. And it rips CDs.

Yes, JRiver is highly configurable and can transcode from FLAC to WAV plus it can convert DSD iso files to PCM on the fly.

I do have a NAS (Synology DS214se).
