nStream v1.6 - nothing new to the loyal Uniti customers (again)

Posted by: okli on 28 February 2011

I've just downloaded the latest n-Stream upgrade to find out that it is again NDX targeted. I'm not sure - is the NDX released yet? What about the many loyal Uniti customers waiting for so many improvements in the "standard" functionality so often requested here? So, please give us something new at last.

The NDX has been out now for a couple of weeks ... there is a planned evolution of the n-Serve and n-Stream applications that extends out beyond playlists, searching and iPad support and although requests for functionality that are posted here *ARE* considered and added as requests for functionality to our software development systems for consideration for inclusion it doesn't necessarily follow that something that is requested will necessarily be added immediately.

Cheers

Phil - I know you are long suffering but is there any chance of a roadmap of thses evolutions?

I'm afraid that I cannot ... as I've said on here a number of times I *CANNOT* comment on anything that hasn't been officially announced and it's down to either our marketing / PR guys or Paul Stephenson to make announcements like that or OK that sort of information being released.

Is there a date, to when we might expect something?

I can only give you the same answer as above - I *CANNOT* comment on any specifics and giving a date for a non-specifc "Is there a date, to when we might expect something?" is also of no use to anyone...

Worth a try though!

Hi Phil - I'm not talking about new features - more about polishing and small improvements - for example to be able to see long texts in nstream springs to mind immediately. I don't know what's the version system behind the nstream, but minor version upgrades normally are considered as bug fixing / small improvement releases, thus my expectation to see something as I mentioned above in some of the minor version upgrades. I hope you can better understand my point now.

Hi AllenB,

Specifically which updates are late?

(The definition of "late" in this case being "<item> will be implemented or fixed by <date>" where <item> has been committed to by someone from Naim and current date is beyond <date> committed to by someone from Naim...)

Hi AllenB,

I'm not trying to wind anyone up here - if something has been committed to and we've missed it then I'm more than happy to take flak for it ... I just need to know what it is.

It could be that because NDX development overran then that's had a knock-on for something else for example but without knowing exactly what it is that is being asked about it's difficult to give a reason as to why it's late.

Without missreading the tea leaves i suspect that the Ipad update to n-stream has been trickier than expected -

Phil.

OK, let's get the marketing / PR guys / Paul on here to explain why these updates are now late.

Please.
Right - because they're the ones who code the apps.

OK - the n-Serve and n-Stream apps that are coded to use the additional real-estate of the iPad display were shown at Bristol and (I've just checked with the author here) are due for release in March (subject to timely Apple Appstore approval).

No problem ... once I have specifics then I can chase them up.
