Qute issues

I have an issue with my qute hopefully is fixable.
I have gigabit network throught out my home.
I use a Synology DS211J nas. All aspects of network are rock solid ( nas never fails and is accessible to all other devices all the time)
I get random lost connections to the network on qute. I have tried wireless and hard wired via a belkin gigabit powerline kit. Many will say that network needs to be hardwired. I think my issue is deeper than network.
Many times while playing off the nas the qute looses connection and cant find the nas. Unit will say " please wait input initializing" on pc connection, iradio, and ipod. I have tried power cycling and factory resets. Nothing seems to help. Now the qute gets stuck at "stopping network" and requires a hard power off.
I want to restate that when my "network issue" is present, qute will NOT play my iphone. It will play FM any any other input except for iradio, pc, or usb.
Any ideas? Sounds like unit is faulty?
Plus networking issues wouldn't prevent the unit from playing iPod or doing the factory reset. The unit literally locks up randomly. Is that network related also?
Try a proper hardwired connection with decent switch / router

I understand your views about the quality of powerline.
How does my network connection (as poor as it may or may not be) prevent playback of iphone?
When I have problems with the "PC" and "iRadio" input, the "iPod" input exhibits the same symptoms.
Display on Qute reads "Please Wait Input Initializing".
It will never change. I've waited near an hour.
I can switch to the analog, front 3.5mm, and all digital inputs just fine. And they function correctly.
A couple of times the problem was corrected with a power cycle. Then that stopped correcting the issue.
I then was successful at fixing the next few issues (what you say is my network) by doing a factory reset. That has stopped correcting the issue. Now during the factory reset the unit gets stuck at "Please Wait Stopping Network". The unit at this point requires a hard power off which sends a loud pop out the speakers.
This has been a progressive issue that continues to get worse.
I have since purchasing the Qute (in troubleshooting) upgraded my entire network to gigabit. New switches and powerline. All other networked devices on network are rock solid. I have MANY items that connect to my network, and ALL PERFORM FLAWLESSLY.
Again I ask.
What does my network connection have to do with Qute not being able to play iPhone?!
I think that we can assume that because you have had the inputs working sometimes then your Ethernet connectivity to your router is at least working to some degree so I think that's probably a red herring. I would like you to rule it out though by having the Uniti hard wired by an Ethernet cable into your router just to confirm that it isn't a cause of the problem.
The Internet Radio, iPod and UPnP are handled by a common hardware core and since you are getting the same issue on all three of those inputs (but not the others) then I would suspect a problem with the hardware that forms that core. (This is why I would like you to try a hard wired connection to your router as above as it *COULD* be that if the Internet Radio or UPnP hardware is having a network issue then it could be locking out the iPod as well.)
If the problem persists after hard wiring the unit to your router then I think it's a trip to your dealer to get teh unit repaired.
For anyone reading this though I will agree with what has been said here though about WiFi and Ethernet Over Powerline - both of these should be regarded as "fallbacks" from the preferred wired Ethernet connection as neither WiFi nor Ethernet Over Powerline can have their performance guaranteed.
Cheers
Phil
Change your router - you are connecting £1000+ of equipment likely via a $10 piece of hardware. Many similar previous problems have been fixed on this forum by swapping out the free ISP supplied router for something more robust.
Better yet, keep the ISP router for your Internet connection only and use a decent switch or wireless access point to join your devices up and then hang this off the ISP router. There are lots of good options available, I use an Apple Airport Extreme and it is rock solid.
My router cannot be changed as I have ATT uverse. I have to use their supplied router.
I am running cat5e to the Qute tomorrow.

even if you cannot connect the two routers together with wired Ethernet
ATT router is only wired to one switch. No other connections to router/modem. It was a HUGE improvement from adding the switches vs all devices to ATT router!
As I said before, I am hard wiring to the Qute tomorrow. We will see if that cures the issues I'm having.
Oh, last night I also assigned a static ip to the Qute. See what happens there.

I have zero issues with my nas as there are 7 other uPnp clients that have NEVER had problems connecting to my nas.
And as far as the factory reset, as i said above, it worked a few times. The last couple of times the Qute locks up @ " please wait stopping network".
And why am I calling?
Now hard wired Qute has the same issue.
I was listening to nas and playback stopped. Hit display and Qute showed " searching".
Switched to FM, analog, digital just fine.
iRadio, pc, iPod inputs displaying " please wait input initializing"
Tried reset to factory defaults and Qute locks up at "please wait stopping network" totally unresponsive to any remote commands or Naim front button.
Had to power off via switch on back.
A loud pop comes through speakers.
Waited a few minutes then powered on and Qute is functional again.
