BT homehub 5 with Ethernet to Qute2 issues

Posted by: Popeye on 01 June 2014

Hi all

I have been happily streaming from my NAS drive through old router to Unitiqute2 via ethernet with no issues. Now I have changed over to BT and there router dose not see the Qute when plugged in just the same.

Have tried phoning BT technical but they are useless! any help or suggestions as now I am having to use via wireless only and so can't play any HD music as it can't keep up with the buffer level.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks Alistair

had the same issue with my NDX, as it kept dropping the signal, lots of good advice, the best way forward is to get a switch which sits between the hub and NDS and server

mine only cost £20 from amazon, attach NDS via Ethernet contact to switch then from switch to router, then contact switch to Hub, will post photo

switch itch was a netgear, giga safe 5 port

I also use BT HomeHub 5 and must confess I have found it to be pretty solid in its performance. Little pointers that I have seen others mention that help to improve performance are:

  • Make sure the HH5 has updated itself to the latest version of firmware. It usually does this overnight provided it is switched on and connected to the WWW.
  • Use fixed IP addresses for your NAS and UQ2.
  • If you are using wireless (which you appear to be just now) then proximity is important. Generally closer is better.

The fact that you can connect wirelessly means that it is seeing the devices. Bullet 3 may allow HD performance.
