FFH Digital radio stations not playing any longer

Posted by: dzambolaja on 01 June 2014

I have been listening to a few FFH Digital radio stations broadcasting from Germany since a few years back.  But recently my Uniti has been unable to play any of these stations (eg FFH Digital - Alternative, FFH Digital - Jazz etc.)

Every time I select any of FFH Digital streams my Uniti displays "connecting" for a minute or so followed by "unable to play" message.

vTuner also finds these stations and I can even add them to the manually managed list of stations without problems.  But playing through Uniti seems to be affected somehow.

Has anything changed in the way vTuner takes digital radio streams?

This really drives me nuts because I find FFH Digital one of the best internet radio streams available.

Check the FFH digital stations in iTunes - it is possible that the URL has changed, but that vTuner has yet to update it (them).

They work in iTunes but how do I check or modify vTuner URLs?

vTuner finds them fine though and this is what puzzles me

Thanks

You will need to create a vTuner account, then add them manually.

Done that, vTuner found them then I added them to the list, Uniti can see them, the URLs on vTuner match those on iTunes (which play w/o problems).

But Uniti keeps "connecting" until "station unavailable, cannot connect" thing ...

Actually I have a similar problem with one or two more iRadio stations that worked before but suddenly started showing the same error message.  But these are not as important to me.

I suspect my Uniti cannot negotiate some internet streams. And I wonder if this is to do with the latest firmware update ...???

Anyone out there interested to do a test and try if the following stations work on their streamers?

FFH Digital Jazz

FFH Digital Alternative

(vTuner country selection: Germany)

Thanks

Not working here either. There seems to be a bigger problem at vTuner's end since I have also lost one of my favourite i.e. East Village Radio.

thanks mate!

at least I won't need to reinstall or downgrade my Uniti's firmware

I can't connect to any radio stations. Is it vTuner? Thanks!

FFH jazz works fine, as does everything else. Just checked.

This is weird!  After more than a month the FFH Digital streams now work on my Uniti, too!!!

Do vTuner people watch these threads over night???

I am happyyyyyyy!

My stations are back now too. This morning, despite switching the naim on and off three or four times and router rebooting, I couldn't connect to any. Thanks!

And now the stations are gone again. Also the vtuner website isn't available on the web. Thanks!

Weird.  I still wonder if vTuner has introduced some locational restrictions or such???

It is weird: no stations for two mornings in a row, but they come back, just like today, when I return home in the evening after work. I'll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks!

Iradio was fine for a couple of days, but again vtuner seems down today. Anyone else?

Naim Radio and the Hidef Radio Paradise are fine here, and sounding excellent.

Thanks for the reply, HH. Strange, I can't get a single station and all vtuner websites are unavailable to me; other internet sites are fine.

How annoying for you. A Naim user in Japan should get the same service as those of us an hour's drive from the Salisbury mothership.

Posted on: 07 June 2014 by Nagoya

Yes, a little annoying, but vtuner is back now. So I've sent them an email to see if they can explain the situation. Thanks!

VTuner is down again for me: same situation as before, everything else internet-wise is fine. Thanks!

I don't know about that; Naim and many other bigger audio companies must have their reasons for using vTuner. And I don't think it's just about cost. Thanks!

I think Naim network players should allow direct manual input of internet streams as opposed to doing it through computer and vTuner web site.

I do not see a reason for not having this functionality?

I seemed to have sorted the iRadio problems I was having by changing the DNS servers (now open DNS) and updating the router firmware. Alternatively, vtuner sorted stuff out at their end after I sent them a few emails? Thanks!
