N-Stream 'Compilation' Curiosity

Posted by: GraemeH on 21 June 2014

Selected 'Unplugged - Eric Clapton' from 'albums' in nstream and, after Eric's instrumental track 1, in walks Neil Young singing 'Old Laughing Lady'....

A compliation of Eric's Unplugged and Neil's Unplugged has formed without any input from me.

The artwork is Eric's Unplugged but it notes 'Various Artists'.  I need to go into 'Artist/Album' to find just Eric's version.

Ghost in the machine?

It's obviously a tag. Shouldn't be too difficult to track down. Famous last words....

Have you rebooted everything from the hub outwards and cleared the uPnP and image caches? Always worth a try.

Thanks Harry but tried all that including renaming the folders on the NAS.

Curious.

Renaming NAS folders sounds a bit drastic. But at least it won't hurt. One wonders if you did anything like a rip, back up, clean up or something seemingly insignificant immediately prior to this bonkers indexing manifesting itself? I bet you've already wondered that at some length. It's got to be a tag hasn't it?

I hadn't touched anything....might delete the existing files and re-rip the affected discs with DBpoweramp and see if that resets things.

cheers,

It now seems various albums listed 'Live' artists have all become muddled...most odd .

Graeme bear with me and let's back up.  n-Stream is seeing 'odd' data.  But n-Stream only sees what the server shows it.  What server are you using?  It sounds at first blush that it's a server issue, not an n-Stream issue (??)

Yes Bart, you're right of course.  I've re-ripped James Taylor Live and noted both CD's were tagged simply 'Live' as the title and this seems to be where errors are happening. Everything with a primary shared title of 'Live' or 'Unplugged' is getting intermixed.

By re-ripping as JT_Live and JT_Live [CD 2] I seem to have fixed the problem just now.

Thanks,

Graeme

Yes, that's the problem. It happens with things like 'Live', 'Best Of', 'Very best Of' etc. Unless you make the album titles different, you will get all the track1's, followed by all the track 2's etc.
