Padded Cell on Top Banner

Naim or Hoopla

Can we have Padded Cell on the top banner with other topic listings such as Music Room, Hi-Fi Corner, Streaming etc   please   -  pretty please ???

We asked for this before Mike but for some unfathomable reason it appeared to be beyond their abilities to do achieve. Perhaps if enough of us ask very nicely?

Indeed Tony, but I thought enough did ask nicely last time. In fairness it was mixed up with a lot of other issues & some was not much more than reaction to the new format if I recall correctly.  So it was probably not taken so seriously.  However that was a while ago & I thought another go without the added confusion of other issues might be worthwhile.

If that doesn't work we should send the boys down to kick the door in

I think that's a good idea, Mike.  Among the topics that get most use I would have thought the Padded Cell was a big one. Although I'm a contributor to the Home Theatre topic, it's pretty clear that the Padded Cell gets many more contributions.

If someone has the skills why not set up a petition on this forum.

If there are enough requests we may not need to send the boys in.

The Home Theatre section seems to be the least used these days and should be relegated if space is the issue.

Count me in. It's a pain.

+1.  Anyone listening?

Ooooh yes please!

and +1

And +1. But they have been pretty bloody hopeless in terms of improvements.

The other thing I can't stand is the way that threads are displayed. The issue is that the name of the writer is outside of the box with their text and therefore, very confusingly, on the same shade of background as the next person's text. It makes complex threads very difficult to follow.

Yes, it's been asked for a while ago but due to space it meant losing one of the other room links on the top bar.  It does however take but a swipe of the trackpad to reach the bottom of the page where the padded cell button can be found.

Then again, judging by some posts and a few threads, perhaps the more difficult it is to get to the Padded Cell, the better...

PITA on phone though

I don't think we will agree with that Richard,  looks like plenty of room on the banner on my laptop screen ,  maybe slightly less on the Mini iPad, but still some space.

Maybe swap "About" with "Padded Cell",  or rename the two worded titles to Steaming & Music & HiFi & AV.  Then why do we need "Activity" & "Recent Activity"

Thanks Richard, I'd never noticed the black bottom banner!

Also "Recent Activity" is duplicated by "Recent Topics" .

guys, your'e flogging a dead horse. Mike's proposal would be nice, but the horse is dead !

Naim isn't interested. Hoopla is both incompetent (ie they couldn't make it happen even if they wanted to) and they are arrogant (ie they won't make it happen even if they could, just to show who's in charge !)

Tip for iPad Safari users:  create a new "Favorite", and call call it something like "Bottom of Page".  Instead of entering a URL, insert this:

javascript:scroll(0,document.getElementsByTagName(%22body%22)%5B0%5D.scrollHeight);

Now, when you want to quickly jump to bottom of page, you can do with a tap of this new Favorite button -- no scrolling needed.

Safari has always supported a quick return to the top of page by tapping anywhere along the top bar. Unfortunately, there's nothing similar for bottom of page.  It sure beats scrolling down to the Padded Cell button!

ATB.

As pointed out - that could be 'Home Theatre' without too many tears.

The really important issue is 'FAQ'.

Mike,

Looks like Hoopla is onto your case.........Richard tells us in another thread that they are trying to implement the latest update. I presume this is a Rapid Response to putting the Padded Cell onto the Top Banner.

Just a pity that like so many Hoopla projects, its had a few teething problems.

Still, nice to know your wish regarding the Padded Cell will soon be with us..........

I'm not holding my breath Don.

But I will be saying thanks on behalf of us all when it does happen.

Mike, I might suggest you keep breathing for now...
