Is that showing that it doesn't display Naim's own lables album art?  That's funny.

@Asenna04, not out yet, but soon will be!
@realhifi,  Don't understand. If you are refering to the Aurlus Mabele album on my server then I'm sorry to say he's not on the Naim label! I've not found the image for that disc on the internet and haven't got round to scanning the cover yet.

TJ,

I really valuable feature would be to be able to browse the folders as well. I and some other people I know organise my music in folder and prefer to browse and select them from then rather then use Albums, Artists etc tags.

Please tell me the n-Stream can do that.

UPnP:
It all depends on your UPnP server and how it presents it's music library to the streaming devices on your network, n-Stream just shows the information that the server makes available.

Some UPnP servers offer the option of browsing by folder some don't. So if your UPnP server supports it so will n-Stream.

USB:
Music on a USB device connected directly to the front of the Uniti/Qute/NDX is always browsable by folder

And is it a free upgrade to existing n-Stream purchasers? Or a different product with an additional cost?

How would the playback screen look for classical music for example? I'd like to have a view of the available tags such as composer, orchestra, conductor... Would this be possible - as I can see there is enough empty space to be filled on this screen?

Are folders the same as Playlists?  If not, will it allow Playlists to be created?

And can they be easily changed/updated?

@TJ:   I am in the process of decision making regarding purchase of the UnityServe. I am interested in the one with the internal 1 Terabyte drive, with a network NAS drive set as backup only. Presumably the Unity-Serve will be connected via Sp/Dif to the Qute - as is the demo unit.  So how does the n-Serve app display/present in this case?

I am having the devils job reading the tiny Qute screen from my listening position.  I am awaiting the launch of the iPad2 in a couple of weeks time. Meanwhile my eyes are getting treated cruelly

Surely the N-Serve app should be supplied free of charge (tongue firmly in cheek ). After all no car manufacturer charges extra for the steering wheel. Without the app it is awfully difficult to steer your way to the music.

Richard,

You would be better connecting the 2 units via a CAT5, a router and using N-Stream (not N-Serve). This way is more convenient and IMO sounds better.
I have just seen the sample of N-Serve in I-Pad version, it seems quite powerfull...

not directly related to the ipad version, but general inquiry - to be able to browse the UPnP server, without to switch the input to UPnP

Quick question hoping to get a Unitiserve with a Supernait very soon what app do I use?
N-Steam or N-Serve,

Might have to get an ipad 2 now also !

Nserve is the one you will need.

Seconded

Allen,  please could you explain a bit more how you would like to navigate in the UPnP tree?
What exactly would you like to do? Thanks.

No - to browse the data under an input (UPnP, DAB / FM Tuner, iRadio, iPod etc.) you have to select that input ...

Long time ago, I requested a timer bar for elapsed time on any track, eg. X elapsed time of Y total track time. You get this with the n-Serve app, but any reason why that still doesn't appear in the n-Stream app?

Allen

You get the eleapsed time counter ... is that not appropriate?

I had a visit from UHES today and they convinced me to go for the UnityServe SSD.  I asked the same about these folders, (but I call these folders Playlists as I am used to iTunes).  Ian told me I can use my Mac desktop to access the NAS and manually create and copy to these folders. He has already created a separate music folder for my existing iTunes music.  I just must not touch the folder shown as "Naim".

They are not iTunes style Playlists, as these will be actual copies of the music files, not shortcuts pointing to the files. The UnityQute will then "see" these files in the named folders and list them for playback. So in effect they will be Playlists as far as I am concerned.

I don't know if that is any help to you, but it goes some way to reassure me.

@Richard - from where I live I can get to London in 85 minutes directly by train or in two weeks if I go via Sidney, Santiago and Prague. If it has fur then it is not a tortoise.
