That looks really nice! Will it be possible to control iRadio for the HDX with the iPad app?

all will be revealed April 1st, no  it cannot control vol on naim pre-amps only nstream

Can I ask how it will control the vol. I was told previously that I would not be able to control the volume through the nserve app. Is the HDX required, or will it be possible through the unitiserve as well (please see my profile for my current set-up) What would I require?

Now that's what I'm talking about! Very nice. Thanks very much for the preview and congratulations on the interface.

A question if I may about volume control: HDX into 252?

Thanks

Hi Paul,
Can you please explain how this will be done? Does the HDX need a software update?

Michel

Hi Guys,

It's actually n-Stream that will control the volume on Naim preamps and integrated amps via the control outputs on the NDX - I've just spoken with Paul to check that it wasn't some new feature that I was unaware of and he confirmed that it is n-Stream that will do volume and not n-Serve ... I think he was posting from his iPhone earlier and simply misread the original question - sorry for any confusion.

Just corrected my post thanks Phil

Thanks for clearing that out. Will it be possible to control iRadio for the HDX with the iPad app? Or will this be included in a forthcoming upgrade?

Paul

Am I missing something here, given that the release date is slated for 1st April?

Once Internet Radio becomes "available" on the servers (and by that I mean we're happy with it and we have our Naim VTuner keys built into it) then the iPad app will no doubt have that functionality added.

As has been discussed here previously the Internet Radio functionality has not yet been deemed to be solid/usable enough for us to release it as a feature so far (although one of the third party control applications does allow access to that functionality) so the n-Stream app as it will be released in its next iteration does *NOT* have internet radio.

Hi Phil,

I understand your reaction. It was mentioned by Paul Stephenson that iRadio would become available, hence my question:

The official implementation of Internet Radio on the HDX is - as far as I am aware - due for 1.5a SP3.

SP2 should be out this coming week all being well (mainly fixes rather than additional features) and my understanding is that SP3 would be two or three months down the line...

Thank you for your quick reply. Nice to hear there is still an ongoing development for the HDX!

Have a nice weekend!

I wonder if it's worth getting the SP2 update. Since I encounter no problems, is it better just to wait for the SP3?

Anybody??

Hi All,

I'm using the n-Serve app on my iPad, and very good it is too, hopefully even better after the upgrade offering more features.

However, it's worth bearing in mind that a much more cost effective option for those of us who might have a wall mounted LCD tv within reach of the hi fi set up is to simply connect an S-video cable between the HDX and the appropriate input on the tv.

This displays the HDX touch screen info, and navigation is done via the Naim HDX remote.

Regards,

Dave.

Service Packs exist to resolve issues in the existing software; sometimes, these will also add new features.

Generally–and maybe I'm biased in this respect–the guys in R & D at Naim would not be spinning their wheels with software updates and testing unless there was a good reason to do so.

Everything about SP2 seems pretty worthwhile as far as I can see.

What is SP2 for the HDX going to add?

Will it be for all HDXs?

can I download and install the update by my own?
