Cannot search for individual songs with n-Stream connected to VortexBox and Squeezebox (Logitech Media) Server

Posted by: Grahame on 02 July 2014

I use Naim's n-Stream to connect to Logitech Media Server (LMS) running on a VortexBox.

However, I cannot search for individual songs using n-Stream as my LMS's Music categories are:

- Artists
- Albums
- Genres
- Years
- New Music
- Music Folder

There is no Song category.

There is also no equivalent Search category for songs that is available when using LMS directly on the VortexBox.

The spyglass search option works in n-Stream but only within the scope of the Music categories I can choose.

Is it possible to search for songs individually with my setup?

Thank you for your help in advance.

You need to turn on the songs or tracks option in the server, assuming it's available. If the server can provide the details, nStream will allow you to search by track.

Unfortunately, I can find no option within LMS to turn on or off song searching.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Could get out of hand quickly, if you're looking at a straight-up, flat track listing.  At 10 tracks per album, 100 albums, you're looking at 1000 tracks, each with their own album art images and metadata....

NStream just took two minutes to load my 26,974 tracks from scratch. It's quite useful in those 'what album's that on?' moments. But by no means essential.

I was wrong there is no song category in LMS under My Music but you can search under artist, album, song or playlist. Maybe it's an interface issue. I have deleted my earlier post.

Load up Minimserver and then you can transcode to WAV. I much prefer it on my VB than LMS, though it does take logging in to your VB and writing a a few lines.
