Cricket Summer 2014

Can't believe there is no 2014 Cricket thread yet, unless I've missed it...
Anyway, what a magnificent, probably match saving, last wicket stand in The Test by Rooooooooot and Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Anderson.

A classic clip of fast bowler vs class batting. (Allan Donald vs Mike Atherton for the cognoscenti). Hook, watch and enjoy.

Awesome clip Bruce, and I do see the attraction. Some similarities to baseball (especially the mind games -- the attempts at intimidation), but obviously there are countless differences as well.
Unlike football, cricket is never shown over here, so it's almost impossible to follow. My in-laws in South Africa are mad for the game. In fact, the only matches I've ever watched have been on South African television. Wonder who decided that Proteas would be a good choice for a national team nickname...ugh.
ATB.

The clip enforces my comment regarding the bowler being able to inflict injury with total impunity.
His posturing and strutting about like a hard man would be laughable, if it wasn't so sad.
I'd say he's in need of a little psychiatric counselling.
Terrific test between the Aussies and India. Credit to both teams. India giving it a go on Day 5 and Aus sticking at it when defeat seemed likely and coming back to win by 48 runs. Kholi didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Test cricket can be riveting. Nice for Aus to secure such a dramatic win after their recent tragedy.
