Twonky miscategorising iPad after n-Stream
Posted by: bifidus on 20 July 2014
I've have looked through the posts here without spotting anything that covered this. Apologies if I missed the solution.
I stream flacs from a WD MyBookLive using Twonky 7.1.1. I recently bought an ND5 XS and used n-Stream on a 1st generation iPad to control it. So far, so good (very good indeed, in terms of SQ). However, after I shut n-Stream down I found my DLNA media players on the iPad (e.g. MoliPlayer) would no longer recognise movies or photos. Only music was listed. Two streaming TVs were unaffected.
It turns out that the iPad's status in Twonky's 'Media Receivers' table flips from 'Generic Media Receiver' to 'Naim Audio Streamer' after or during n-Stream use and I have to set it back after every music session, which is a nuisance. And of course, this sort of interaction with Twonky (bless it) will give it an excuse to rebuild its database, which can take hours!
Referring to other issues posted here, note that in this case I'm not worried about improving artwork in n-Stream, but I do want my iPad media apps to play movies and display photos, so 'Generic Media Receiver' is fine, if only I could hang on to it!
If this has been covered already, please point me to the right post. Otherwise, does anyone have any ideas how to overcome this re-assignment in Twonky using n-Stream?
Thanks,
Alan
