The music that you have in the NAS should be included in the iTunes library you have on your mac mini or mac book pro for Audirvana to access music. When you start Audirvana in integration mode, it automatically opens iTunes on your mac and looks for the files included in the iTunes library of that mac. It does not look for the files in the iTunes server on the Sinology.

It depends on how do you want to manage your music. You can either go for one single music physical library on your NAS or several physical libraries (your NAS plus your -for example- your mac). You will need to choose which computer -mini or pro- you will use with Audirvana, though, as it will get very complex to maintain an updated iTunes library on two computers at the same time. Audirvana is designed for use in a single computer with a single library.

For what you are trying to do, I would suggest switching to JRiver: you will be able to use a single NAS music library, you can access it from any computer that has the program and it will get updated automatically (and will get you a UPNP/DLNA server on top). Cons are is more difficult to set up and use and sound quality is -in my opinion- not as good as Audirvana.

I use Audirvana for "local" computer sound, either through a pair of KEFX300A or Audioquest Dragonfly + headphones. For my hifi rig, I use JRiver media server to stream to my ND5XS.
