Flushed with pride of how the show went last year, we hope you can join us on 29 or 30th August 2014.

More details on our website : signals.uk.com/show".

"A little update regarding the forthcoming show.

The plan is for Naim to bring along the Statement with some Focal Grande Utopia loudspeakers.

This very  Statement has just left Hong Kong and is now in Taipei, Taiwan for the TAA International High End Show 14-17 August. Next stop is Salisbury where it should be readied for Audio Show East in Ipswich. Yikes. Major league

In addition to this mighty great system, Naim will have the full Uniti range plus mu-so and there will be at least one additional Naim system lurking elsewhere at the venue.

There is a free raffle prize of a mu-so for one of the visitors, so please register your interest and come along!

Besides Naim, there are quite a few significant brands due to be present.

The address is:

Trinity Events Centre, Trinity Park, Felixstowe Road, Ipswich IP3 8UH

please email us directly or telephone if you would like to register.

The opening times are:

12.00 until 18.00 on Friday 29th

10.00 until 1730 on Saturday 30th.

Just under two weeks to go and we now have rather more registrations than we had for last year. Mind you, the show is about 30% bigger too, so there will be room for this to be respectably busy but relaxing at the same time.

If you would like to come along, and the potential to hear Statement not to mention the (three) free draw prizes totalling about £2800, must have some lure, we would appreciate it if you could register either directly  or via the website links.  It gives us a chance to predict numbers over the two days.

The main Audio Show east pages are at : signals.uk.com/show. Direct links are in the original post and I cannot see how to add them here.

Am making the journey for this - the line up looks really good and the reports from last year were so positive.

Posted on: 17 August 2014 by Signals UK
Thanks for that, Fender.

Instant guilt-trip that we are over selling!!

Glad you are coming along. Last year did indeed seem to hit the spot and we have high hopes that this years event will, at the very least, match it.

I'm hoping to get there by hook or crook; due out of hospital on the Tuesday (a spanking new knee is on order) so I'll require a comfy chair.

Posted on: 17 August 2014 by Mike-B

Hey Tony !!!  are you joining the titanium & plastic knee club  ???

is that a full or half knee ???

I had 2x half knees installed 2011 thru 2012 & never looked  back

Remember the physio is just so important - what you achieve in the 6 weeks after the op is how it will be for the rest of your time.  You "knee'd"    to get the full 120 degrees bend & a snappy lock out & should be walking freely - but don't over do it !!!

The show is maybe a little too far too soon.

Good luck

Confess that I had rather assumed that you would be ruled out by the op, Tony. If you can come it would be great. I'm sure we can sort out one of those leather chairs from the bar area wherever you need it.

On the other hand, as Mike-B says, don't overdo it!

Oh well, perhaps I'm being a bit too optimistic!

Mike, it's the full job; I've taken Alastair's advice & gone for a 500-series knee. I'll be purchasing the extended warranty too, sod the expense!

Thanks for your good wishes, it's appreciated.

Hope the op goes well Tony.

My father has recently had his second knee done and, after putting it off for many years, he is delighted to have taken the plunge.  He's far too mobile now for the rest of the family!

Best regards, FT

With a total replacement - even with a 555/500 tri-amp job - you ARE too optimistic.

Keep us all posted..

All the way in advance of our event there has been this little bit of jeopardy: The fear that the Statement Amp might not make it back from its Far East tour either intact or in time should there be issues at Customs. It is the reason that the initial posting about the show was so low key.

The call this afternoon that the "Eagle Has Landed", indicated that the take-away pizzas. . .  no, sorry, it meant that the Statement Amplifiers are now safely back in Salisbury. On Tuesday, they will be readied for 240v  50hz and the van is now being booked to bring these, some CHUFFING big speakers and a pile of other people and things to Ipswich.

If you want to hear Statement, even if you are 'just looking', here is your chance.

Are you really expecting customers?

I hope the event goes well, it's nice to see the good guys winning.

Thanks SJB.

I think we will have people 'just looking'. Mind you, a couple of folks have asked about the pre-amp as a first or possibly only step. We were deeply impressed with what we heard of it in an incredibly short listen, so it will be veeeeerrry interesting!

In truth, I've had reservations and was suggesting that plan B should be to really show new listeners how good the mid range Niam kit is. All attention seems to be on single box units. . . or this. Having said that, getting Statement is too big an opportunity to overlook. It is a major draw, I'm sure. Pity you're stuck in that pleasant little green place . .

Tony,

Good luck with the op. I think you're pushing it a bit thinking you'll make it to Alistair's in 3-4 days. You'll still be feeling a bit grog from the general anaesthetic. Don't rush it.

Good luck with the op Tony, and I hope to see you at the show.

John.

PS. Only on the Naim forum could a 'Statement/Show' thread develop into a discussion about replacement body parts! That's why we love it.

Thanks for the good wishes chaps. Steve, I had a spinal anaesthetic so I was compus mentis during the  op. A bit disconcerting to feel & hear all the banging, sawing, grinding and drilling! Went for a walk today on a 500-series Zimmer frame. Amazing really.

Dear Tony,

My best wishes for a swift and complete recovery!

When I had my tibia bolted back together [fractured out of the knee joint downwards a long way] I asked for a general anaesthetic as there was no way I wanted to actually witness the work of the surgeon.

Apparently there is a greater risk from a GE than what you had, but I am not that risk averse!

As I say, I wish for you to soon have full health again!

That's good. So you'll have a clear head. Swift recovery.

Big day is rapidly approaching. Bookings to come along looking really strong, so we don't simply hand out the expensive prizes to the first in the door after all. We've even got our Audio Show East flags now. So they will be useful. .  .

One little point worth mentioning is that on Saturday 30th, there is another event on the same Trinity park site. It's called Boy's Toys and Gadget Show, although it looks more of a county fair with Robot Wars and Scalextric as a side order.  Anyway, they are charging £10 for entry. Please don't be fleeced!! We are far cheaper.

In the unlikely event that this generates some sort of entry gate crisis, our mobile numbers are 07802176319 + 07976440335.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. I think Tony is simply sending his old knee.

Sadly, they wouldn't let me keep the old one. I was told it was a biohazard! What a cheek!

At home now but pretty lame - will it be OK to come along Saturday?

Posted on: 26 August 2014 by Polarbear

Karen and I hope to join you on Saturday.

Of course that's fine - if you really are up to it.

The excitement is mounting 2 more sleeps!

Posted on: 27 August 2014 by Signals UK

Sleep?  Wow. Interesting concept.  Beyond waking inexplicably at 0400 on daily basis (no longer light, so makes no sense) I'm actually pretty chilled. Big improvement on last years finger gnawing performance.

Van loaded tonight with 15 massive curtains and associated gantries. Just got to pack the 500 system with Fraim and Titans in the morning that Chord Co are borrowing for their cable dems and we're ready for the big set-up. And then we will discover what we've overlooked!

Numbers are looking pretty high, by our admittedly modest standards, and we might have to step away from the laid back plan and actually ticket the Naim Statement dems. I'm sure we will get around things one way or another. Angry punters must be avoided at all costs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
