n-Vi display problem

Posted by: GreenAlex on 18 March 2011

Because of the n-Vi standby issues I have been having, I have started turning my n-Vi off at the back everytime.

Something not recommende because of sound quality, but still, it should not be a technical issue if the n-Vi is powered up and down every 3-4 days.

But now the display seems to have some kind of problem.

The top lines (where the Volume is displayed) is damaged.

It seems like a few lines are dead.

It's hard to tell from the snap shot, but actually the very first line seems to still be partially alive and then 2-3 lines seem dead (where the "T" is crossed).

My question now:

- is this a common problem (have been hearing a lot about buggy displays)

- is there a fix that does not require replacing the display? i.e. resetting, unplugging and reattaching or somehow short cuircuiting and thereby resetting the display itself?

Same price in Germany. I have to say: wow :-(

If only I were allowed to do it myself or have my dealer or a local electrician do it.
As generous as supplying the display itself at no cost, the labour cost is enormous.
It really is a fourth of what I paid for the unit and it really is something that well, seems like a design flaw and by no means a normal decay of the display.
At least judging by the amount of people who seem to have the same problem.

Sad really. Looks like it really will make far more sense buying either a 32" or a simple 15" screen. Both would completely replace the on-screen-display.

Unfortunately no, my dealer cannot do it. It has to be sent to the distributor. That's what I have been told.
