Homeshare

I have seen some Sony device with homeshare ability.

What is it? Is it like the backbone of AirPlay? Is it like iTunes as upnp server controllable from remote app?

It's a Sony network to connect home devices.
Apparently open standard.
Whether it gets any leverage is open to discussion.
Very early days, I'd say.

It thought it has something to do with iTunes home share? The name is confusing. I was hoping apple would open that up.
