Saw these guys last night in Glasgow, it was an excellent gig and their latest album - "Someone Here is Missing" is first-rate, too.

They are very good , but a bit Porcupine Tree lite.

They definitely sound similar, but less proggy.

This contains my Pineapple Thief summation from a couple of years ago:

I've since got Some Here Is Missing, which I think is a bit ordinary, and definitely less proggy (and as Porcupine Tree have gradually dropped their progginess and gone a bit neo, so they have lost me). I just don't think Bruce Soord can write as good tunes as Steven Wilson, so when he drops the instrumental quota I think the music suffers accordingly.
But then what do I know? Since leaving behind the old-style prog influences Porcupine Tree have become popular beyond anything Mr Wilson can have imagined round about Signify/Coma Divine time.

Seems like they are supporting Blackfield, so I'll finally get to see them.
They were playing at the Electric Theatre in Bridport last August while I was down there for Vinyl Saturday with Simply Grim and our respective partners but we already had other plans made for us for that evening so we couldn't go.

Love the Pineapple Thief. Have followed the Porcupine Tree since '92. Is it coincidence that they are both PT ? Can't catch the Blackfield P Thief gigs so will look forward to the reviews... The incident tour by P tree was very good - and hey I was born in '67....
