HD Tracks - Heads Up

The country blocker seems to be off again!

Oh no its not !!!!

"This product is not currently available due to region restrictions".

Mike

It seems to be selective. For example all the new Led Zep remasters are available and they weren't before. I just bought a Joni Mitchell download that was restricted before. All the Donald Fagen is available and wasn't before.

I posted on another thread a couple of days ago - possible a deal has been agreed for certain labels e.g. Warner (which also has 20% off) and some of the smaller ones. REM, Linkin Park, Mastodon and newer Rush albums now available for example. I'm getting in quick before they change their minds again.

I will also checkout now. Good value with present exchange rates too.

Managed to get 10 albums in.

Trying Led Zep as I've never had any!

Couldn't get my Allman Brothers though

Just makes you wonder how much money they would receive once the block is removed for UK???

Going to listen now.

One thing I would like to add. I now have managed to purchase 20 albums. All of them are absolutely stunning regarding sound quality. (2 Led Zep's not listened to yet though)

If they ever do remove the block, I will be spending some serious $

Joni Mitchell, Hissing of Summer Lawns in 24/192 strongly recommended

HD Tracks UK web site is now open for business.

Just use .co.uk inplace of .com

Enjoy

Well, good from one perspective.

Unfortunately, price hiked up now for UK

I bought Led Zep at $19.99, it's now £17 so that part is bad!

Why do we get ripped off in the UK?

Interestingly, I will try and buy the remaining Led Zep's from the US site!

I was going to say the same thing AntonD.

As an example of US v UK pricing:

Eagles-Hotel California:          192/24 $24.98 v £24.50

                                                 96/24 $17.98 v £18.06

Is there a valid reason, eg. VAT, taxes, agreement with record companies?

Or is it just because they can charge more?

Who knows?!!

Just bought another 3 albums from the US site but that's about it now. All the other material I like is unavailable.

IMO £17+ for HD material is too much.

I will now enjoy the many I already have and wait for price reduction, hopefully!

Regards to all

Just been on hdtracks.co.uk

Elvis, Rolling Stones and meatloaf still blocked so not quite as good as this thread suggests!

Posted on: 10 August 2014 by Fueller

This pricing is a joke, many are more in £ than $. I'd just about stomach the 20% vat on top but for me this doesn't take the HD journey further forward as at these prices I'll continue with vinyl in most cases.

Rush 1989-2007 album set £124 vs $80 anyone?

Posted on: 10 August 2014 by hungryhalibut

1p for Rush would be too much. I bought Anita Baker's wonderful Rapture album in 192k and very nice it is too. But - is it worth three times as much as buying the cd and ripping it? Er.... Probably not.
