Any PS3 users out there?

My son came to use his PS3 yesterday but could not get a picture on his TV. I was working fine the previous evening. Tried disconnecting and re-connecting everything but still the same. Even tried it with another TV. Tried resetting by holding power button down for 15 seconds but no joy there either. It is slim line model and only 18 months old. Any ideas what is wrong?

Should add there is no sound either.

Actually using a scart lead. Will order either another one or hdmi. I assume hdmi will give a better quality picture and sound?

If you are not getting anything but tv lights up you my have it on wrong av channel.
