Excellent documentary tonight.

One of the most extraordinary and wonderful nights of my life. I was especially lucky as I was in the front row, dead centre. i'm still floating a week later.
Keith
I wondered what it was like right at the front. You obviously got a great view, but I suppose you miss all the laser lighting, mist and overall special effects. Ideally we should go twice. Yeah, once is not enough.
How did you manage to get those tickets?
I sure hope her "Before the Dawn" concert will be released on DVD/Blu-ray.
Indeed. It would be at the top of my xmas list. Have any of the lucky attendees seen film cameras at work ?
From the website. The seat was E18. It wasn't until I got there that realised there is no row A-D! Everyone in row E was in shock!
She didn't look directly at us, even though the stage is barely 3' high and she's 5'2", and not wearing anything on her feet. The sound was excellent and you can hear the drums unamplified from such a close distance.
You may be right that you miss the spectacle if you're that close, but the whole thing is quite analogue (people waving sheets to represent the sea, fish masks etc), almost am dram. It's more about the atmosphere, the music and her extraordinary presence than the spectacular effects so I don't think I lost much.
She is a natural performer and held the whole place spellbound for the entire show. Her voice is perfect too.
Keith
The waving sheets looked great from behind you Keith. The lighting on them gave a great effect. The moon was incredibly real and 3d.
The yellow message in my shot is confetti that was blown into the audience. They are being sold for £25-£30 each on Ebay. I got 4 of them. Crazy world.
The sheets looked great from the front too. My point was that this sow was on a human scale unlike The Wall, for example.

I know there was a comment that our Kate was looking a little 'matronly' - but the above seems uncalled for.

LOL.
Actually, the original performances of The Wall in 1980/81 were in large arenas (Earls Court, Nassau Coliseum etc) but still surprisingly intimate. I saw those shows, and because of the sound system and the way the group played with the three dimensional space of the venues, one was drawn right into the action (the disastrous 1990 presentation in Berlin was quite another matter, though).
I saw the new Wall in 2011 at the 02 and last year at Wembley Stadium, and weirdly, with this new presentation, the bigger it gets, the better it is.

Oh sit! I sould check my posts more carefully!
Keith
It was spellbinding last night.
All of the above.
We had (ordinarily) crappy Circle seats, but actually felt involved and with a great overview.
The show was filmed on two evenings earlier this week, so a DVD is surely on its way.
I'm not a great fan of concert DVDs, but I will pre-order this one with glee.
In fact, apart from the first half hour, it was not a concert, it was an event.
.....and I didn't see one phone camera go up......
Except for your own, I guess.... (I'm kidding. I know your shots were not during the show itself).
On BBC 4 at 10:00 tonight - Now!
G
.... followed by Jack Bruce tribute.
Still no news on any DVD of the Kate Bush concerts. I thought we would see one released for the Christmas market.
