UnitiServe downloads folder backup

Posted by: nudgerwilliams on 25 August 2014

Apologies if this has been covered before but cannot find an answer on the forum.

I have a 2TB US and have just noticed that the daily backup job is only backing up the ripped CDs and not any of the files in the Downloads folder.

I have looked in DTC and cannot find any config settings to change this.

Can anybody advise on how to do this?

Thanks

David

Works as designed;-) you can not backup your download folder, only ripped music is for backup/restoring!

Well you CAN and SHOULD backup your Downloads folder, but the uServe's software does not provide the solution.

I use Macs (OS X) and easily backup my Downloads folder to my nas using the OS X program Carbon Copy Cloner.

Thanks Ralf and Bart for the replies.

So the two things that I thought I could do when I got the US upgraded to the 2TB version - use the US backup routine and use the Naim tools for simple meta-data edits - don't work.  Groan.  Serves me right for not checking properly before I guess.

I hope that Naim add that functionality in the future.  In the meantime, I find it just fine to use software running on my Mac to do these functions.  (I prefer to edit the metadata before I put the files on the uServe, but if I find an edit is needed afterwards it's still straightforward.  Tag for metadata edits and CCC for backup.)  Cheers!

I noticed the same issue--Unitiserve backup does not include the downloads folder. I copied the files in my Unitiserve downloads folder and pasted them into the appropriate place in my  backup drive. Seemed to work.

Hi, I use this file sync application to keep my US Downloads folder backed up to my NAS. It's free and works quite well. There are a number of options, but I use the update setting.

This works, but backup software that does incremental backups will be more satisfying going forward.

Thanks for the tip on this software.  Working well so far.
