Ripping problem

Hi all,
I've just come across a curious ripping problem (HDX) that has me flummoxed.
I popped the new "Lorde" cd into the HDX and I get the "no cd detected" message. Fair enough.
I restarted the HDX, router, switch, NAS, etc. but this made no difference.
I saw others had posted with issues due to buffer memory being filled up on their HDX or network issues, and at first I thought that this was the problem here. It isn't. I tried another cd and it ripped fine.
Music stores and shares on the NAS all look fine from the DTC software too.
I then tried to rip the new "The 1975" cd and encountered the same "no cd detected" problem.
Then I got really worried....... perhaps the laser had failed on the HDX....not the case. If I switch from "rip" to "play", I can play both of the troublesome cds! Weird.
So, I thought there must be some sort of protection on these cds. Nope, this is not the case either as both rip with iTunes.
As a workaround, I can rip lossless in iTunes and copy files to my music download folder (a Naim music share) and access the music on my NDS from there but I'd love to know why I have this problem, and more importantly, gain some confidence that I am not going to see it again with the next new cd that lands on my doormat.
I would love to know if anyone else has come across this? Does anyone have any ideas I could try?
Thanks in advance!
Scott.
