Audirvana and wav files

Posted by: Hugh Craig on 16 September 2014

Hi

Just starting to use Audirvana Plus 2 and don't seem to be able sync albums ripped to wav from my Nas. Flac - which is the vast majority of  my rips - are fine as is DSD, the main reason for experimenting with the software.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks

Hugh

As you were!

The tracks have synced but there in no metadata other than track title so it doesn't show up in album view.

Not really an issue as I would normally listen via ND5XS. Could be a bit of a pain if I decide to get rid of it and go down the computer route - many happy hours inputting metadata and album art!

Why not just convert your WAV rips to FLAC (ie., using XLD) ?

Thanks Jan-Erik - I'm not sure that will recover the metadata but will certainly give it a try.

Audirvana Plus 2 can't automatically sync with network volumes. This means that every time you add new music files to your NAS, you have to manually re-sync your whole collection. This takes >6hrs for my +2TB music collection. This makes the new Audirvana music manager useless for me and those with big music collections on a NAS.

It works fine in iTunes integrated mode, even if the iTunes music files are on a NAS. But that also means there is no value in upgrading from version 1.5 to 2.0 if your music is on a NAS, as the only difference between versions is the add-on of the (for me useless) music manager.

But for those of us that use the MacMini/external HD the new Audirvana software means we can ditch iTunes for good. I'm looking forward to trying it but won't upgrade until Yosemite is released and the glitches have been ironed out.
