Political cartoons to the rescue

Posted by: Haim Ronen on 21 September 2014

It is always a political cartoon that succeeds in pulling us away from the depression of our current events, leaving us with a fresh perspective, not necessarily ours, and a smile on our face.

If you come across a delicious cartoon, please be kind enough to share it with us.

Old I know but for me absolutely perfect. Sums up much of what I detested about the hypocrite, and still do.

Whatever happened to the Iraq enquiry? Forever sidelined?

Another Steve Bell. Sums Blair up perfectly:

And a topical Peter Brookes:

The four US cartoonists whom I keep following daily are Glenn McCoy (NY Times) and Michael Ramirez (Investor's Business Daily) from the right and Mike Lukovich (The Atlanta Journal) and Tom Toles (NY Times) from the left. Despite their varying philosophies and styles, they all share a keen eye and a healthy dosage of humor. Lukovich and Ramirz are Pulitzer Prize winners.

I know this isn't current but I love the old political cartoons from the past.

Problem is,  Wallace & Gromit are supposed to be funny,  but I find it better to laugh at the The Two Eds as I am liable to go into floods of tears or have nightmares.

Even as women were accepted in certain industries, their attempts to organize for legal rights were consistently mocked in political cartoons, like this anti-suffrage postcard from 1907.

That would be Jeremy Thorpe the then leader of the Liberal party and a well known sod in the sodomite sense.

That would be Jeremy Thorpe the then leader of the Liberal party and a well known sod as a famous court case showed.
