Converting Flac to Wav

Posted by: Allram61 on 21 September 2014

Hi

Have decided after a whiles testing that i prefer wav over flac. I have up till now used flac when ripping via Unitiserv. I know how to convert via webinterface.

Now to my problem.... wav will take up more space, and i used up per today 838 gb of music on the unitiserv“s harddrive (1tb hd) .

How do i take the next step?

I have backup on extern networkdrive. And there is space to use.

Thankful for sugg or help how to do this.

Cheers

Magnuis you have a few options.  One is to keep ripping to flac, and have the Unitiserve transcode it back to wav when serving music to your player.  This is what I do.

Another option, because you are running out of room, is to set up an external Store on a nas (your external networked drive).  If you read the Unitiserve owner's guide it will tell you how to set up another Store.  You can then rip new cd's to that Store instead of the Store on your Unitiserve.

A third option is to get the Unitiserve upgraded to the current 2tb hard drive system.  That is what I have done.

Best regards,

Hi Bart

And thanks for rapid awnser....  To set up an other store i understand.... but what wil happen with the flac-files on the original store? My concerne is the space on US-hd will not be enough.

You can leave those flac files on the original store, and just start adding wav rips to the new store you will create on the networked drive.

I am not sure if you can convert what's already ripped in flac, to wav.  I know that you can go wav to flac; just not sure about the other direction.
