New n-Stream app is here

Posted by: LeeTom on 22 September 2014

In the U.S. app store as of 9am PDT!

Just had a look.

Bad news is you have to have ios7 to update, so my original ipad and iphone3 cannot update.

C'est la vie

New all-in-one app is available called "naim".

Seems to have replaced n-Stream in the store.

My search doesnt pick this up?

You would think Naim would advise the forum and its clients, if it was releasing a new app?

Posted on: 22 September 2014 by LeeTom

The app name has changed to "Naim"

Posted on: 22 September 2014 by 0rangutan

I think the app is in transition so sometimes shows up as one, sometimes the other in the store.

Trying to update n-Stream resulted in me getting "naim" installed.

First impressions are really good.  The new UI is very modern and very clear.  Navigation is reasonably intuitive and, best of all, you can now browse UPNP lists while the radio is playing.

No other obvious new features (on my Qute at least).

No issues so far - tested pretty much everything that I can on my Qute.

Still not in the Google Play store for Android though...

fingers crossed, none so far. Which is more than can be said for that permalink! It should go to my post...

Poor show that spotify is only available for mu-so considering the naim streamer owners have requested it for long enough.

Downloading it now on my phone.... if it craps out I always have the old version on my iPad to tide me over.

How cruel of Naim to release this on a Monday when I have to wait until after business hours to play with it!

I'll be brief...i really like it.

Told you, I'd be brief!!

I wonder what AllenB thinks?

Posted on: 22 September 2014 by fred40

Most certainly an improvement. Pity they ditched naim green.

Pity also that the new app is only compatible with the recent products..Three years old Uniti apparently is too old and should be ditched - so much for longevity of Naim products. Oh well, that's the modern world...

I like it

- finds/changes screens much faster

- iRadio search is heaps better

- need to keep playing to learn all the tricks - e.g. wonder if compatibility mode is better

Hi Graeme,

What  I did was go back into the App Store after updating then you will find the "Naim" update which did the trick for me.

Works great here!

the only thing I miss now is the total count of the albums/songs I got before at the end of the list!

not so important!

an other thing I noticed in the settings of the imputs you can now chose the level but I don'understand what it means exactly!

I'm running an original NaimUniti - in fact one of the very first review units to be released into the wild, back in May 2009 – with the new apps, both iOS and soon-to-come Android, and having no problems at all.

The NU has been updated along the way, having had the 24/192 board fitted at some point, but it's running fine with both apps for me.

I'm a bit confused you are saying that you have an original NU but on the other hand you implicate that you have had the upgrade board fitted which in my mind tells that it is no longer in original specs. I'm happy with the 24/96 board so no need to upgrade in that front.

I just installed it, but I'm at work so of course it won't do anything yet.

The welcome screen displays mu-so prominently.  I don't own a mu-so.  So we'll see how it behaves once I get home.

The main screen gives me the options to "set up a new mu-so" or to "Find my rooms."  Neither seems to make sense to me.  "Rooms" is a new vernacular; I have no idea what it means honestly.  The only other option is to "add room manually."  Again, what the heck is a "room" in this context.  It's like I'm reading Dutch or something.

Maybe it will just find my NDS and Qute and uServe . . . but this "rooms" thing seems a bit odd.

Working here looks good so far

It might have something to do with the multi room feature. I'm sure the app finds your devices just fine.

Oh well spoke too soon, they haven't fixed it at all. Was obviously too much to ask.

After a 1st play - its gonna take some getting used to,  but most all I have seen is nice.

1st request is to have Naim "Green/Olive" color option in Styles - c'mon Naim, its the Naim worlds favourite color.

2nd is to junk the Reset Streamer feature in "Other Settings"  I would be extremely pissed off if I (or another) inadvertently reset to factory default. We have it in the remote handset & thats the best place,  so please junk it in the app feature.
