Nice job Naim!  Thank you.

There is a menu popup when clicking "..." on a track.  When the List is showing in Now Playing, the long menu includes the names of my playlists so I can add the playing track to one of them.  If the list is not showing (large cover art for current track) the menu is short and only allows creation of new playlist.

Easy workaround, but surely not intentional.

My thanks to the development team.  They must be scrambling hard to satisfy the impatient demands of so many eager customers, then gracefully endure the occasional criticism when their software is not perfect.

Clearly 4.1 has put right some of the (much discussed) faults, well done Naim for turning it round so quickly.

So here's another one. Input trims should be individually adjustable for each different input. However, if the UPnP input trim is adjusted, it adjusts all other working input trims as well. If any non-UPnP input trim is adjusted, then it reverts back to zero when you leave 'settings'. It is as if the UPnP input trim is the 'master' and overrules all others.

I am running a UnitiServe (and other inputs) into a NaimUniti (firmware v3.22).

Please give this a try. Can anyone confirm my findings?

Forgive me for this folks.... I know the answer's in this thread somewhere but it's become too unwieldy to trawl through!

How do I find "Clear UPnP Cache" and "UPnP Compatibilty Mode" in the 4.1 app? I think I've clicked everything now and they're just eluding me.

Just tried it for you. They all work independently, exactly as they should.

It's in Settings - Input Settings - UPnP

So, one for, one against. Any others?

Thank you! I remember now.

I've found another issue. If I'm using the UPnP input and then select any other input from the app it will not then go back to UPnP. I have to use the remote control for my ND5 XS to get back to UPnP. I've found this to be true with both my iPad and iPhone version of the app.

Posted on: 08 October 2014 by hungryhalibut

No such problems here.

Reloaded the app and it's fine now.

Using ipad 2 and when I open the Rovi virtual CD booklet, if I click on the "Not this album" the dialog box opens but is too small in height and it's not possible to see the existing title or to edit it (the ipad keyboard does not open).

Also got this. Im sure this was fine in ver4.0

This reply ik from Peter of Holland, so excuses for language mistakes.

I have a Naim Uniti, an ipad mini Retina, an Imac, a general router from KPN (dutch Telephone) and my UPNP-player on the iMac is from Jriver.(TIP!)

With the n-serve everything worked perfect.

First I was glad with the new naim-app 4.0, it had better looks. But there was very much not working. Knowing that changes are never without weaknesses, I read that 4.1 was coming, so I waited patiently and saw that a lot of problems were solved, but these things are still not well:

-often, when changing input, searching and finding takes a long time, you see a turning ball (ipad)

-when I press the input iRadio, sometimes I see the channels in  the name, sometimes the channels from the v-tuner (ipad)

-volume level should be on the front side

-volume level sometimes doesn't work direct

Now that I am reading all with the ipad in front of me, I must conclude that in general I am pretty happy with the app. I hope something can be done to make the app even better.

+1 with this. Quite an issue with classical music because the automatically loaded album is hardly ever the right one!

Where I spoke about radiochannels in the name, it must be NAIM.

Now I see another thing. Sometimes when I go to UPNP, I choose a playlist, I choose a number, I touch the three dots in the upper right side, I click play now, the very app disappears. Is that also a weakness?

Hi,
I have now lost input trim in the newest version.where has it gone ?.

Contrary to popular (it appears) opinion I think the new app is great ! First drops will have bugs, we all have different set ups and use differently so stuff drops out.

not sure where the 'play from this track' option has gone but hey ho.

no doubt there is a techie reason but the missing link for me remains a track search feature on mp3 - I listen to a lot of podcasts and continuos dj mixes and without the feature it makes it hard to pick up on a 4 hour mix from whete you left off !

The point of my post -

something that is great is that I now seem to be getting high res album art rather than low res versions  I did on nstream -   Real Positive.

what I cannot get my head around, hopefully someone can help me here, is why some albums (not all) show the blank icon at album level but when I go in to the album the artwork is there, it's there for each track. I have a folder.jpg in the folder. Why dont all covers get picked up at album level ?

i use twonky on a wd my cloud (I know...) but given that most albums work i don't think that's relevant. I've tried deleting and re ripping the albums. I've tried deleting the folder jpg and recreating I've tried reading artwork in iTunes....

Any ideas ?

Also I, too, seem to have lost the alphabetical index along the right-hand side; I see now only little dots, not letters of the alphabet.

This is certainly not a contrast-issue: there's only a dot where an alphabet-letter should appear!

I think it's a contrast thing. I've just had a look and where the background graphic of the sleeve is light at the top, the writing seems less sharp. Similarly where songs disappear off the bottom they look fainter.

The more I use the app the more I like it, but then again it works perfectly for me. It will be nice to finally get the revised version, especially for the extra info on iRadio.

Start it up and I'll follow. It's getting to crowdy now here.

Better for Naim to interpret all the wishes but more important the omissions they HAVE TO SOLVE.

Touch a track in an album and it:

- loads all tracks from the album in the playlist

- plays from the chosen track

I experience the same: it's a matter of time. Can take a while. Clearing the cache will also sometimes help. Also restarting UPnP-server or re-indexing can help. It's not clear to me whether it is a problem in the app or the UPnP-server. I see i happen on al my 3 UPnP-servers Asset-MinimServer-Twonky (using these simultaniously on my QNAP TS439)

I have no suggestions and also no problems regarding 'UPnP-speed'.

I'm using 3 UPnp-servers simultaniously installed on my QNAP TS439 Pro II from 2010 with latest update and using 2 LAN-ports connected with load-balancing enabled.

Streaming via my homenetwork controlled by Devolo LAN 200 ('never' use WiFi) and I'm using an intelligent 8-port Netgear switch (every device connected to a separate port)

Using iPhone5/iPad2 both booted with iOS8 latest update to controle my Naim SuperUniti

UPnP-servers

1) for my FLAC/WAV's:  Twonky 7

2) for my classical music in FLAC/WAC: MinimServer

3) for my 'old' MP3s I can't find in FLAC-format: Asset

When starting up the app first the Asset appears in max 3-5sec usually direct!

Then Twonky or MinimServer.

Minimserver in 10-20sec

Usually Twonky is less responsive (max 30 sec)

When starting up after the system has run and played for a couple a minutes, Asset en MininServer react directly and Twonky is still not that speedy (max 30 sec) but sometimes faster.

I noticed a major improvement in responsiveness the new 4.x app with especially Twonky.

Can't believe my eyes: some people giving credits to Naim on the updated app. Don't you guys/programmers/developers at Naim test the code on the devices? At least on iPhone/Ipad as being most used by Naim-owners.

2 major mistakes:

- invisible Rovi search-field when selecting 'Not this album' when using iPad2 (already mentioned here a couple a times)

- missing alphabet-letters on right site of the screen when choosing 'Album' or 'Artist/Album' etc. when using iPad2

Furthermore: still not being able to adjust the volume using the slider via the diverse screens of the app is really annoying. I read about serious timing-issues/problems regarding the response from the app.

In the earlier version of the app with sliders available almost everywhere I never experienced these problems (using iPhone5/iPad2 -> SuperUniti - firmware v3.22)

Positive view: you really took lots of the comments seriously and updated the app in short time. Maybe to short? Compliments anyway. Hope you will test future-updates more intense. I presume Naim-developers are using a checklist while testing functions in the apps for diverse devices?

Hi Scooot,

if your streamer doesn't have a volume control there's not much to gained by triming it. I believe they took it away where it has no relevance.

That's right. Whether you see it depends on the equipment you use. I see it as my SuperUniti is trimmable.
