Yes, it is different to n-Stream, but take a few minutes to re-familiarise yourself and you should be fine. Change can be good...

Change is the only constant in live, agree...... but

- a volume slider constantly available is a necessity

- evenso for the mute-button

- plenty of room for displaying the filetype and quality

It doesn't feel intuitive enough for 2014/2015.

It can't edit the data because it controls the client, not the server, which is where your files are.

I guess views on UIs are always a personal thing but I think it's pretty bad. Personally it was such a relief to go from my phone to my ipad which I haven't updated yet.

Paraganista, any chance you could chose a stactic avatar? Yours are kind of distracting and the constant flickering a bit irritating. Save it for Xmas. Sorry!

Seconded. It gets very 'black' after a while (like that tennis video game that burnt CRT screens).

i've no idea what all the terms mean, any chance of a glossary to explain the phrases that pop out when i poke stuff?

Another vote for the new app. It's stable and looks great as well. The volume controll is much better and it's great to be able to adjust the balance via the app. I wouldn't mind if the volume controll was fixed to the upper edge, but it is a minor criticism. It's a great bonus that both the preset radio channels and the playlists are listed on the "front menu". I really like the new app - thanks Naim!

I think the problem is with fetching the artwork. If you are quick and tap on the upnp icon before the artwork appears alongside the track playing then it will take you to the play queue but only momentarily.

Once the artwork appears in the play queue view, the app then does a runner and closes.

This effectively means that the seek2time functionality is b*ggered.

I hope you don't have to re-create all existing Playlists in the new App.

Simon.

Yes I have also found this bug.. Fortunately only slightly annoying... As I often recreate my playlists.

Also album art does not display properly after some menu navigations.. but other navigations have no problem.. Overall all not bad... I was hoping to control the presentation of meta data but it is all hard wired. Another bug is the bandwidth and file format is not displaying.. Or at least I haven't found it!.. That is annoying.. Surely easy to fix though

That's strange! Mine pauses too - and did in the old version of also...

I like it, it looks far better to me than the old version.  I'm sure there will be areas that need tweaking but they appear to have attempted to include much of what we have been moaning about for months re the old version.  I think they were always on a hiding to nothing with this and I'm sure we will be moaning about this version,  and talking about the good old version, until the next one come out with the crappy new product we will all hate  Well done Naim but remember you can't please almost any of the people most of the time!

Strange... I seem to get only the add to playlist feature.

I also think this is a huge improvement. It looks great and is much faster!!

well done Naim!!

Hi fred40,
Very strange indeed.others are reporting that the track pauses when muted but that feature won't work for me.

Thumbs up from me!  Looks much better than the previous version and the predominantly black screens are much less glaring in subdued lighting - great!

The only drawback is that there is no Qobuz or Spotify integration so I still can't use it for over 50% of my listening.

Is there a track search facility, as there is in Nserve?

Posted on: 22 September 2014 by Glyn
I'm getting used to it now and generally think it's an improvement.

One question: I'm sure I found a screen where I could adjust the balance and fix the maximum volume level. I've not managed to find the screen again and I'm starting to think I dreamt it. Help please?!

Okay, now impatiently waiting for the android version. I thought I would have to get a new iPad (for iOS7 - I got cheap used v1just  for the Naim) but then realized my most obsolete NOOK HD can now access the Play store so there's my new controller and perfect size as well. Hopefully. Who knows in Naim land...

Where is the new Server app for Android?

Posted on: 22 September 2014 by Solid Air

I like it!  Much cooler looking and generally modern.

We're all used to N-Stream, but I'm willing to bet that a user who had no experience of either N-Stream or this new app would find the new one easier to learn and use. They wouldn't swap. There may be a few things different/missing compared with N-Stream, but firstly there are pros and cons and secondly they can always be added later.

One very good thing is, I can play the iRadio now while looking through the UPNP menus. I'm not sure I could do that before.

Great progress - well done Naim!

Alex

Glyn...I've also lost the page with volume and balance control. I've been looking for hours now, where's it gone?!
