Aaaagh !!!!

Press 'CD' for instant app crash !!!

Aaaagh !!!

Try to scroll up/down the PLAY QUEUE and it suddenly pings back to the track playing now, BEFORE you take your finger off the ipad screen.

Nice try, Naim, but back in the day when I used to run a programming department for Virgin we had this thing called 'thorough testing' ... that's testing with thorough...  that's only the very minor bugs got out, not gaping holes in the operation.

I'm usually a staunch supporter of Naim's software development guys and girls, but when code like this is let out of the company, it smacks of rushed, inadequate testing.  Come on chaps...  please.

After an hour of use on an iPad, I both like and dislike some of the features. The slimmed down and minimalist look is pleasing and an improvement but the lack of an always visible and accessible volume control is important for me.

On a much brighter note, seems there's finally the functionally for n-stream to ignore "the" sort tag for artist names and properly display and sort albums by artist. Makes browsing the library a better experience.

Argh! WTF? My N-stream was updated along with a bunch of other apps. Now n-stream is gone. On the Naim app all I get is mu-so stuff.  I have a UQ1, not a mu-so. The 'set up' menu takes me to a screen that asks what  colour the light on my mu-so is.... Argh!

Finally tried pressing the three little dots at the upper right of the screen, and then I tried to add a room. Remarkably, Unitiqute is listed, but after selecting it, nothing happens. There is no action; nowhere to go or press 'OK' or 'done' or anything.

I added a room name and even entered the IP address of the UQ manually, but then there is nowhere to go.

The app store does not give any info that the UQ1 is not supported, if in fact it is not, but some here seem to have made the Naim app work on older streamers.

My firmware on the UQ is up to date, and the wireless is all fine; UQ has been restarted, UPnP streamers restarted....

.... gasp... help...

So glad NAIM finally got around to updating N-STREAM (even the name N-Stream is so lackluster)

Way more polished looking, and to see the negative comments makes me laugh as I picture a bunch of cranky old audiophiles in bathrobe and slippers  no offense!

I do miss the GREEN color though!

Thanks!

Count me in the "I like it" category. Runs more stable on my phone and iPad then N Stream did, and I like the sleek more contemporary look, and the ability to browse files without disconnecting from iradio etc.

OK, I'm obviously the only one who has lost control of his/ her equipment. Tomorrow I'll try and ditch the Naim app and go back to n-stream.

But I'll call it a big zero for now.

My iPad updated my apps automatically – I would have preferred too wait a while – but I have to say that it does what it says on the tin and, surprisingly for me, I like it pretty much out of the box. Took me about 10 seconds to hook up my UQ2. I remember when Apple ditched the skewomorphic icons (iOS 7, I think) – I was ready to throw my toys out of the pram, but now I couldn't imagine going back to them. New GUIs take time...

One small (possible) bug: When I add multiple tracks grouped by the tag composition to the playlist, the apps says, "added one track," when in fact it's added multiple tracks. The playlist contains the correct number of tracks, but the feedback is incorrect. It would be nice to see that the correct number of tracks had been added.

So... my iPad automatically downloaded this new app.  I have to say that the look is different and probably a far more intuitive. It's certainly slicker and modern.   I think it has potential.

I have an ndx and the app does NOT work.  If I manually select the track or album from the front panel or use my phone with the n-stream app it shows what plays.  However I cannot select a track whether from streamer or from a playlist.   Why would this be?  I have not upgraded to the newest software Update but plan on doing so.   The only other issue I have is whether or not the uniti serve is still supported...  I also hope that it supports streaming audio sooner rather than later!

i am hopeful naim will work this out!

One question: I'm sure I found a screen where I could adjust the balance and fix the maximum volume level. I've not managed to find the screen again and I'm starting to think I dreamt it. Help please?!

Glyn...I've also lost the page with volume and balance control. I've been looking for hours now, where's it gone?!

Anyone else had a fleeting vision of a page on the new app which allows you to set volume control limits and adjust balance?  I'm sure I saw it but now it's gone.  Maybe a bug or there was an obscure way of accessing it which I can't repeat by accident?

Hi Righcoastants,

Sadly, mine is not ignoring "the" :-(

Glyn, from the home page of the app, tap the settings cog.
Select Input Settings to adjust input trim per source or the Audio Settings option to change balance or master volume limit.

Naim have certainly made a "statement" (excuse the pun) with this app, I guess we are in beta testing stage and we are the testers.

Hi,
It now takes an age to connect to iradio.
Could someone please explain what the trim option is for.

Damon,

i have been able to connect to and control my UQ1 without any issues,  on the first page I tapped the add rooms, the Qute was listed, I selected it, highlighted in Naim green, and everything worked as expected.

i have not had a chance to do much with it,  but I have confirmed it works.

Scooot - I believe that the trim option allows you to tweak the relative volume levels for each input.  This would mean that if, for example, your CD source was louder than the built in streaming or radio, you could trim it down a little so that the volume is more consistent and less jarring when you change inputs.

Orangutan,
Thanks for the clarification.

Not sure if anyone else has the following problem? I have managed to get my iPad to find my NDS without any problem, however my iPhone cannot find any "rooms" so does not see the NDS.  Any suggestions?

Have any of the n-stream wish list items been added to this new version. What is coming out on friday. Is there a firmware update that will unlock new features. Why are Naim so secretive about this stuff

Yes, we are getting used to things but it does not mean that the new things are better. I liked the old iOS 6 icons - they were unique. The new iOS 7 or 8 looks like any other OS made by competitors these times. Of course most of us will get used to this new 'naim' app but it does not mean that the old app was worse. I always hoped that that the new Naim app will look more less the same but will have new features and functions, but they decided to re arrange it completely and I do not understand why. This is the trend now. All applications are getting fancier and fancier: more colours, animations, 3d effects etc and because of that they the real purpose of the apps is getting less and less important. Unfortunately it appears that ‘naim’ app is heading this way too.

It will not be long when we see ‘share it on facebook’ or any other social media button which will be much bigger than a simple ‘play’ button…..

First thing I would try is to delete the app from your phone, then reload it. This will reset everything and may also iron out any glitches downloaded the first time.

I only have the Input Trim. No other audio options are listed (balance/volume).

Where, oh where is the volume control?

nothing seems to bring it up.

Yes, input trim (whatever that is) is all I can see now.

Some of us have seen the other options which have now disappeared so I'm wondering if a certain set of circumstances allows the other options to appear....

A volume limit option would be good so we don't set the volume too loud by accident using the software.

When you click on the settings "cog" do you see "Audio options" listed between Input settings and Other settings?  The max volume and Balance controls are in this Audio options menu item.
