New Naim App Issues

Posted by: Buntobox on 24 September 2014

I downloaded the new app for my NDX 5S last night and my first impressions aren't wholeheartedly positive.

My artwork is all 600x600 pixels but when they are shown in their largest form as tiles on the artist list they are very low definition and unreadable. n-Stream never had this issue. Oddly enough, if I select an album to play from those tiles, the display then shows that abum cover perfectly clearly. See pictures below of the before and after.

I have also noticed that when an album is selected to play, the artwork shows correctly for a split second then changes to a random cover unconnected to the one I selected although the track list is correct.
When the album is playing, the artwork shows up in full definition but I don't like that each track has it's own shot of the cover which partially intrudes from the left and right of the view I have of the one that's playing. It looks untidy. See bottom picture.

I've discovered another problem. I have various other files of old radio comedy and such in my library. These are stored as m4a and aac files. These do not show up on the new app

at all and cannot be played unless they are accessed from the front panel of the ND5.

This isn't progress and I'm not now impressed with this new app.

How can I get the old n-Stream app back?

Try turning on (or off) the UPNP compatibility option and see whether this resolves it.

Also, make sure that you have rebooted both your iOS device and streamer since installing the new app.

Thanks for the input and I have tried as you suggest but it doesn't work. I still have unreadably blocky artwork on the artist page and my aac and m4a files won't show at all.

I'm having a similar issue, except that non of my album artwork is visible. It was fine on the old app, but the new one only shows a folder icon for each album, strange. Could it be that the new app is not fully compatible with Synology's media server...
