Apple Genius Mixes

Posted by: J.N. on 24 September 2014

I'm selectively re-ripping my CD collection in AIFF onto my iMac and have 360 songs so far. I have activated the 'Genius' feature which works fine by selecting a start-track.

I cannot; however, get the 'Genius Mixes' feature to display in the playlist (I've had it working in the past with a larger library). Is it because of the currently relatively limited library of tracks?

Should anyone be interested, I did some more ripping and 'Updated Genius' with 412 songs and 'Genius Mixes' popped up in the menu.

I reckon the Genius mixes are one of the best features of iTunes. Mine frequently comes up with tracks I'm convinced I've never heard before, usually from old albums I've dismissed in the past as being not worth a second listen.

I lost the 'Genius Mixes' I previously had with the last iTunes (iOS 8 compatible update).

I had to disable and re enable the Genius feature for them to re create and re appear.

I don't think Apple's QA has been up to par recently, as is evident with their pushing and pulling of the iOS 8 8.0.1 update...  I think I will wait a day or so to check the newly issued 8.0.2 update is 'ok'
