Hello!

being a new numpty with all things downloadable, I think I need some help. I have the unitiserve 2b and have ripped my music but I would like to download some material in 24/whatever) from Hd tracks .

i have registered with hdtracks on my ipad  - but can I use it to transfer music to unitiserve folder in the dtc - or do I need to register on my windows laptop  to transfer material ? How do I drop and drag to get an album  Which has been bought by download to play on unitiserve.

The free download given with sign up can't be found in my  knowledge......

Don't think you can do it from your iPad.

On your windows laptop the browser will kick off a download manager app which will download the music files to a folder on your laptop.

From there you just use windows explorer to drag and drop the files into the Downloads folder on the US.

One thing to note - the Backup app on the US does NOT backup files in the Downloads folder.  So you need to do that manually, or treat the HDT download folder on the laptop as your backup.

+1  -  couldn't writ it better meself

The HTR download app sets up an HDT download folder in Windows Explorer, mine set itself to be in the Windows assigned "Music" folder & named itself as HDtracks.

These original download files stay in that folder - dragging & dropping is a "copy to SU"

You can then do whatever you want with the original copy in Windows: I use that location to change whatever is needed, .flac to .wav, make MP3 copy for the Mrs etc,  the SU copy is not affected.

Absolutely right.  You can use Windows or OS X.  You download using your computer and then copy the files into the Downloads directory of your Unitiserve 2 tb.  But between downloading and copying, you will want to check and probably edit the metadata.
