Firmware update - Uniti

Posted by: gheesha on 27 September 2014

Hi there.

I'm trying to update the firmware in my Uniti. apparently worked well however, when I have to start the second stage I need the IP address, I access Network settings from setup and the display says "Please wait, Network settings", and stay there for hours, until I finally I turn off the unit.

I read other problems with the serial cable. I did the firmware update from my Laptop with windows 8.1, and a USB /serial cable, looked normal, and finished, I couldn't read the message with the confirmation. Last night I tried another PC with windows 7 and didn't work.

Both, Laptop and Uniti are Ethernet connected to the router, it is clear that the Uniti has problems to connect.

I live in Houston, so no Naim representative near, It is really frustrating.

If any in the forum experienced the same problem, please give me a help, I will try getting a different cable or even a different PC, everything will be better than sending the system to Southampton.

I know is a little late for the upgrade, I have my system from beginning if 2011 but didn't receive any support from the seller.

Any help appreciated.

I guess this is a uniti 1? What firmware upgrade are you going from and to?

Yes Uniti 1, it is the only upgrade I received from Naim support, and is dated year 2010, My software version was 3.0 before the upgrade

I'm not sure you can update it to the latest firmware without upgrading  some of the hardware on the original Uniti. Your best bet is to send the guys at Naim's HQ  an email if you don't have a dealer nearby.

Thanks, I contacted the main distributor in US and never get an answer on dealers in Houston area; nearest I think is in Austin, but not sure.

Email Naim tech support directly!

I did, the answer I got was the file with the update and the instructions, unfortunately is not clear if will work in Windows 8.1 or what type of serial connection you need, straight thru or different.

As said, the update looked good, I followed the instructions, but evidently didn't complete the process. I'm trying to get a different cable to see if works, I believe that the main issue is Windows 8, frustrating that last night I used windows seven and the update with the same cable was unsuccessful.4\

In any case I sent a new email to the service I think will get an answer on Monday. I'm considering to change all my system.

I had a similar issue being asked to enter the IP address of the Uniti.. As I did not take note of the IP address at an early stage of the update process when it got displayed together with product model and current firmware version, I did look on my router which IP address my Uniti had uses, I could find out easily as I did recognize all the other users of IP addresses (laptop, iphone, NAS...)
so ended up with one IP address (and related MAC address) that I entered and the update process could continue and did complete successfully.

Thanks, that really helps. Yes I found the IP and now I can access, however I received this error when I tried to upload the file

Access Error: Data follows

will google to see what could it be.
