itunes volume standardisation?

I use iTunes and audioivana out of mac mini into a DAc V1

But I get sick of large volume differences and iTunes Sound check seems to do little

has anyone trued ivolume http://www.mani.de/en/ivolume/index.html or got a better solution?

I know its partially because of the range of music i listen to but early Stones rips from Cd and Miles Davis seem to be so much quieter than more modern music. i'd like to level this out a bit without compromising SQ

I know the issue. However, I am not so bothered by it to to resort to adding software or changing standard EQ settings.

It may be worth experimenting with Audirvana's or iTunes EQ options, as a way forward.

its the overall volume from one album to another that seems to vary so much

it of course happens from a cd player but i winders if there was a good way in iTunes...
