And played on a gramophone to boot! A Thorens TD160 I think.
Enjoy.
John.
Thanks for sharing - interesting.

A dirty dusty 160 one to boot. You would have think they would have cleaned it up first.

Are you talking about the turntable or Jimmy
Certainly looks like a TD160. Shure cartridge? I wasn't blown away by the sound of mine but the suspension was amazing. I could place it on a light, wooden bench and thump beside it as hard as I liked without making it skip. Sold it to a work colleague who stripped it and took it to Bali for disco duty. He had trouble convincing Customs that the x-rayed motor wasn't a bomb..
It looks like a TD166 MKll to me. I had one for a while a few months ago with the same arm minus the dust. Not the best build quality around but pretty decent sound.
Fascinating - and how lovely to see him using a turntable!! My guess is that it's probably his but like a lot of musicians hi-fi is a means to an end and at the end of the day a bit of dust on a record player doesn't make any difference to the sound. I don't suppose he's duraglited his mains plugs either LOL!!
His house looks like just the sort of gothic pile filled with ethnic objects that you always hoped he would have!! I'm looking forward to the Letz Zep gig tomorrow night even more now!

Jimmy says he buys a lot of old vinyl. Just don't let him catch you selling Led Zep bootlegs.

I guess it's more likely to have been filmed inside Tower House rather than the Mill House in Clewer. Interesting to see JP opening up more to the media these days. I suppose that's what has to be done even to sell Led Zeppelin.
Is there a release date for new remasters?

27th October in the UK.
I can't find a TD160 which looks anything like the turntable page uses. If anything, it looks like a TD166 MKII.
Excellent. Thanks John.
Thanks for sharing this. What I loved was that he picked up the album cover, just like we all did (do!) and read the lyrics, studied the cover etc, while listening to the music. Magic.
Interesting stuff.
It's a shame that this track has a high entry in the "Most Overplayed Tracks" top 10.
Now there is an idea for a new topic, eh?
Did you notice how Jimmy turns to the camera and smiles happily at the end? It must be amazing to have created something that is so well loved all these years on. When I started boarding school in September 1972, all the 'bigger boys' were really into it, and Led Zeppelin was always playing somewhere in the house, so it's such a part of my growing up. Watching that has really made my day!
