Muso support

Posted by: maze on 10 October 2014

I see on the Naim webpage there is a Muso support page. I wonder why Naim have never offered a support page for their streamers to date and if there is anything such like in the pipeline.

Is the Muso somehow more complicated than streamers or is the fact the Muso is out to capture a different market, i.e. folk that have no interest or experience of a hi fi system.

With so many streamer issues posted on here surely a streamer support page seems appropriate or am I missing something?

Surely this is just the shift from products sold and supported by dealers to a new mass market product sold via the high street?

My thoughts too.

Yep, and very clever marketing to get the product sold va this route. A big step and a brave one in my view, I hope it pays off big time

I personally think naim is losing its status in the real hifi world going down this route.
I know people who think because john Lewis and house of Fraser sell Bose it's the best hifi in the world.i hope naim keep some credibility.

Hopefully they can do both; sell true hifi via their dealer network and sell lots of units of muso via this route. If they can everyone is happy, the brand gets more exposure with non audiophiles and they bring in more income to invest in other products.  If they can't get it right then we all have the option to vote with our feet, just as we do for any other brand that we buy into.  Time will tell but I don't personally think its a bad thing, especially if it gets people to get a taste of good sound that may lead them into proper hifi - without some route that gets new customers to purchase high end audio the sector is in trouble at some point

I'm sure you want to see Naim continue to prosper Scott - the market is changing and it's either embrace or fade away. Better that Naim attracts a different customer to its brand rather than rely on just the real hifi world enthusiasts.

I suspect it will manage to do both admirably.

I think the Mu-so will introduce more people to the Naim brand and eventually increase the sales of the higher end separates. The Mu-so is a class product and is definitely a cut above the competitors wireless systems both in terms of build quality and sound. Some people who buy them will certainly explore the rest of Naim's range. It's only natural.

Puts me somewhat in mind of the Aston Martin Cygnet. Unlike the Cygnet, I think Mu-so will do very well indeed. Having an online support page is just doing what everybody else does for this type of product. Naim could hardly not have one.
