I can't rip some of my CD's

Guys,

I have some CD's which strongly persist against being ripped into FLAC. Interestingly, they play perfectly fine in a CD player. I have tried several ways to rip them, but no joy.

I use a Windows 8.1 PC with JRiver Media Center 20 software. There are settings such as 'rip in secure mode' and ripping at various speeds. None of them work. I replaced my CD/DVD reader/writer in my Windows PC - no luck

Here are some CD's which I can't rip. All of them were brand new and never played before.

• Neil Young - On the Beach
• Otis Redding - The Definitive Soul collection (only CD #2)
• Tom Waits - Closing Time - I bought TWO copies of this great album, and both copies do not allow ripping of the first two tracks. This suggests there is a problem

. I wonder if you can recommend any other hardware, software or hardware to 'rip them apart'?
