NaimUniti Upgrade Options

Posted by: stammerman on 19 October 2014

I have one of the first Naimuniti's from May 2009 and it has served me well ! Apart from upgrading the firmware (running 3.22) mechanically there has been no faults until very recently. Although the CD player has had minimal use, it now won't play any CD's. For each CD there's a an initial spinning of the disc and the a few seconds later the display shows "NO CD".  I thought it might be the puck so I've replaced it but still the same. Any ideas?

Also, bearing in mind that the Uniti is now 5.5. half years old are there an hardware upgrades worth considering or should I consider selling the version 1 Uniti and getting something else? 99% of the music I listen to is streamed together with some internet radio.

Advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Martin

Out with the Uniti. In with a SuperUniti.

I looked at the SuperUniti but it's quite a price difference from the Naimuniti. Any idea how much my Uniti is worth second hand?

You need to keep an eye on adverts on Pink Fish and the auction site. You'd need to have it fully working before selling it, so best to get that done anyway.

Do audition both the Uniti-2 as well as the Superuniti.

I have an original Uniti of similar vintage to yours. I had a problem with the CD player after approximately one years use which was remedied by a quick visit to my dealer. I recall that there was a common issue with the early machines. Maybe a search of the forum may be beneficia.

Check out eBay for Uniti's 2nd hand also.  I sold mine there about a year ago.  It was 2 years old at the time and sold for £1,150.
