NDX Problems

Posted by: Tice7 on 21 October 2014

I normally record the Bob Harris Sunday Show to my hard drive recorder either by setting it to record overnight or by using the “Listen Again” option via  the programmes available to Radio 2 on the Naim app.

Problems :

1)      Playing via the listen again option, the iRadio disconnects randomly and doesn’t reconnect. I wondered if this might be a router issue but I’ve tried live radio and there is no interruption to the feed that I’m aware of. The NDX is wired. The disconnection problem also occurred on other “non-live” programmes selected on the NDX iRadio menu.

2)      To get around this I recorded the programme via GoldWave on my laptop and transferred it to my AssetNas to play via uPnP. The track plays but when I try to move the progress bar, the track freezes and shows a time elapsed of 1.33.12. I’ve now tried this with previously recorded radio programmes of 3 hours duration on the AssetNas and exactly the same thing happens with the same elapsed time.

There would seem to be two separate issues here. I’m also having problems with the stability of the Naimapp but that’s another matter entirely.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated

How is it all wired ???

Direct to router or do you have it via a network switch between NDX & NAS

What is router make

The router which is a BT Home Hub 5, is wired to a TP-Link TL-SF1005D 5-Port 10/100Mbps Unmanaged Desktop Switch and then to the NAS and the NDX.

Very similar to my setup. I understand iRadio works normally with live streaming & I guess streamer from NAS - so nothing wrong with router feed or switch

- my question was actually are you using a switch (or not = bad)

I am not at all familiar with the listen again feature (I've never used it) so I am backing out & hope someone with experience can help.
