Hi guys

I'm trying to upload a photo, but even after cropping it right down, it comes out massive in the little reply box. A tip please

Thanks

James...I tried that, managed to get the photo on by dragging it into the box, but the system gives an error message, saying it was too big, and that I had used all the characters up?

Resize to a lower resolution it in an image editing program like Photoshop.

I work all day with Photoshop. You can send the image to me and I'll resize is for you.

Thanks Richard and Fokkelman...I have done that in iPhoto on my iMac. I uploaded a photo ages ago with no problems.

Please can you guide me through the process. I assume that I start with Insert/Edit Image? Then what?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with iPhoto, but you should look for resize image.... probably found in the edit settings. Than save the image.

I think I've cracked it. I emailed the photo to myself, it then gave me the size options. Saved it to my desktop, I then dragged it into the reply box...let's see if it works!

Thanks for your help guys!

Well done!

Unless it was a photo of a tiny blue and green sheet with one corner folded over, it doesn't show for me.

Nor me. Out of interest how do you upload a file. I've always linked from my Flickr or Photobucket accounts ?

Ah ha!.......the mysteries of the Naim Forum photographic posting facilities...........

Donkys ages ago, I recall being able to upload photos, spreadsheets, word documents.......almost anything........... direct from my computer to a post. No hassle ! The photo was there, embedded into the post for the eternity of the Forum !

Then something changed. AFAICT it was realised  that the Naim server was becomming overloaded with photo-data, so we were forced to place our photos etc on a site (such as flickr) to which we could make a computerised link and thus display them..............provided we (and flickr) continue to store the original data and don't delete it and flickr don't go out of business. This transferred tera-bytes of data fron naim to the likes of flickr.

I seem to recall that it is now possible again to "copy & paste" photos direct into a forum post. I'm not sure if this recollection is correct, but if it is, I too would love to know how to do it.

When I use IE as my browser, there is no photo, just a red X.

When I use Firefox, I see a photo of an electric consumer unit.

Same computer. Same operating system, different browser, different outcome

Are you signed in to the forum in IE..?

Yes. I am signed into the forum both in IE and Firefox.

Occasionally my automatic login seems to fail, I usually only notice this when trying to create a post, in which case I just log in anew.

I created this particular post whilst in IE, and the meerkat's picture is no-more, just the unhelpful redx in a box

When I sign in via Firefox. that red x will be a consumer unit picture.

I also notice that in IE, many photos appear vertically streched. If linked to flicker, they appear normal when viewed in flickr. The same picture appears normal on the Naim forum when viewed via Firefox and is also normal in flickr. wierd.

Here I am again via Firefox and sure enough the meerkat's consumer unit is there for all to see !

Posted on: 23 October 2014 by JamieWednesday

Don't use IE then. Simples.

Posted on: 23 October 2014 by Don Atkinson

Probably good advice Jamie, but I use IE as my default browser for a number of reasons. I don't have problems posting links to flickr via IE. And its only some, not all, pictures posted by others that appear distorted or as a red x. So on balance I will probaly stick with IE and use Firefox as and when required.

I just thought my experience might help others who seem to have similar problems viewing meerkat's picture, especially if they are using IE. They might load up Firefox and use it as a backup or even as their default !

Weird,

Visible in Firefox but not in Chrome on a MacBookPro.

I see pic in Safari but not in Chrome?????

Posted on: 24 October 2014 by james n

Same here - works at home on Safari. At work on Chrome and IE, no picture.

Just as point of interest, I am using Firefox at the moment on my iMac. I normally use Chrome, but lately it's been freezing up.

I didn't use the Insert/Edit Image tool, I just dragged the photo from my desktop into the reply box. No idea if that was the correct way, but it worked! The Insert/Edit Image tool looked too complicated for me!
