All of Fred's stuff is definitely worth a listen. Highly under-rated artist in my view. And seems a nice guy. He needs to tour more, especially to Vancouver... . We'd go and see him. And bring all our friends.
I concur, Fred Simon is a marvelous musician.
Beautiful album!
Equally inspired by jazz, European impressionism and the work of the Beatles, contemporary composer Fred Simon is one of American music's best-kept secrets.
Described as "Modern music's middle ground between jazz and classical" in USA Today, pianist and composer Fred Simon's interlaces pop sensibility with jazz complexity like no other.
Fred Simon's illustrious musical career spans over thirty years, including recordings on Windham Hill, notably Usually/Always (1988), Columbia, the highly acclaimed Open Book (1991) before coming to Naim Label until present day.
Fred Simon's illustrious thirty year career boasts collaborations with musical luminaries from acts as diverse as Oregon, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Pat Metheny Group, Fairport Convention, Larry Coryell and Kurt Elling.
Simon's imaginative yet subtle ability to marry chord with melody is testament to the luminaries that are queuing up to record with Simon at the helm on Naim Label.
Thanks so much to all for the very kind words about my music ... I'm truly grateful you enjoy it! And for anyone who hasn't had the chance to check out my other two Naim albums, Remember The River and Since Forever, I'm sure you would dig those, too.
And Winky, you know what I always say: I love Vancouver, and I'll play in Vancouver anytime Vancouver will have me. Let this be the start of your career as an impresario!
Just thought I'd seize this opportunity for shameless self-promotion (all in service of the greater musical good, of course) to suggest that any or all of my albums on Naim would make excellent holiday gifts and stocking-stuffers ... CDs for actual stockings and downloads for virtual stockings. And an LP for the aficionado of vinyl. Besides Dreamhouse (pictured above) there's also:
Remember the River
Since Forever
Nice work, Fred. Those who don't already have all your albums need to buy them.

Thanks, Winky!
I've got Endless River on vinyl & very nice it is too. One of my favourites, and not mentioned above, is this one :-

Thanks again, Tony; glad you dig Remember the River (I assume you meant that and not the new Pink Floyd album Endless River). Also happy to know that Open Book is one of your faves.
One more to mention if anyone is looking for more Fredmusic is Usually/Always; it's out of print but you can find it on the interwebs:

Whoops! Sorry Fred, I'd just been reading about "Endless River" on another thread. I blame senility.

As a Fred Simon completist, I'll be looking for that one!
(Just found a second hand one for a reasonable price and ordered it. Some are going (or at least being offered) for quite price nowadays!)
I wonder if you're seeing a small spike in sales of "Remember the River"?

You mean due to people who think they're getting the new Pink Floyd? Could be.

I think you'll really enjoy it ... it's in Technicolor!

If that's the case, you might consider naming your next album 'Revolver' or 'Rubber Soul'. Could have residuals in perpetuity .

Well, I do have a song titled Revolver on my album Remember the River ... does that count?
