Oppo 83SE freezing

My Oppo 83SE bluray player (multiregion for DVD and bluray) has been having fairly frequent episodes of 'freezing' while playing back DVDs. I suspect it may be 'dying'. Anyone suggest anything to improve things and perhaps avoid the need to replace it?

Just did a little bit more research, and have cleared the persistent storage cache on the Oppo. Hopefully that will cure the problem.

Most of the freezing problems (for other people) seem to occur with bluray discs. If you have a problem with bluray discs freezing, first you turn off BD live (if it's on!) before clearing Persistent Storage :

Eject Disc tray

Setup > Network Settings > BD Live Network Access > Off

To clear Persistent Storage :

Setup > Device Setup > Persistent Storage > Erase Persistent Storage.

Since doing this I have not yet had a repeat of the freezing disc problem with with Bluray or DVD. Also (hangs head in shame), after finding this out (again) I remembered that I had to do it a couple of years ago.
