Who's gone awol?
Posted by: Whizzkid on 25 March 2011
Now that we seem to be stuck with this wonderful new forum software I've been thinking who's not posting anymore due to its retro 2001 usability. So who's missing and isn't it a shame that they are no longer here as I do not frequent here very much these days I'd like to know who's not coming here anymore because it does seems a much quieter place than before. Could they be just taking advantage of the change forum name in the manage section? or are they on permanent awol? which is a dreadful shame don't you think so Socialstrata?
Think of this thread as the old forums Book Of Condolence.
Whizzkid - fantastic chap with a great taste in music and HiFi (though he might be back soon if the forum gets back to being easy and joy to use)

Dear Mark,
He is back as Guido Fawkes! And funny as ever!

This avatar/change-identity thing is one of the most pathetic aspects of the new forum.
It’s not even a joke.
Cheers

I agree
I would really like the avatar thing removed, I happened to have one available from another forum so used it, I could easily manage without, could be a good step to reducing the title size and helping to reduce the amount of scrolling.
Choose a name stick to it.

My only two gripes with this forum now is the really really silly small amount of stretch space for the text, even on a laptop over half the screen is blank white.
And post starters names do not appear. Such basic functionality, lost.

Ah, good news George.
Talking of comebacks, Mr Ron (Ich bin ein Berliner) Knee hasn't appeared again after I declared 'ease back'!

Stallion or Marco, but I don't recall him using the moniker "glue"

Sorry, combination of the horsey tag and him being history...

Horses can live to usual terminal age of 27 to 29 years - a thirty year old horse is rare as hens teeth!
So I daresay Marco [Stallion] is still a while off the gluepot!
It is not that long ago. yet!

Why this nostalgia though ?

I would prefer if mention of those who are unable to reply is kept to an absolute minimum - better yet, not at all.
Naim have been lobbying hard for a restriction on the changing of username. It just gets very confusing otherwise. This facility will be in place imminently. If you really want to change username then you can ask admin to do so for you.

In line with Richard's request on minimum names being used....just as I joined the forum a Scottish individual....let's call him Tom for sake of anonymity was just leaving.
Some 5 years ago (maybe more) he had discovered rips and streaming and left the forum. Interesting that with regards to streaming he was years ahead of many.
I haven't been paying much attention here and name changes may have contributed to this but Polarbear, Kuma and Cymbiosis appear to my superficial view as being very low key. As I said though, I frequent these parts even less than I did before.
Regards
Jim

This is what I just don't get with this new forum, or rather the business relationship with Hoopla. It's unacceptable that Naim has to lobby when they should be calling the shots. Who is the customer here ?

Couldn't agree more. Plus the snails pace of any changes is just beyond the pale.
