Posted by: sjw on 20 November 2014

For ages I've controlled my Mac mini with my iPad using the apple remote app as I guess other do

the ipad since os8 won't connect to my iTunes libray and control it

I've got home sharing on the iPad on and the Mac but the app gives me a pin code to connect to the itunes library but there is NOWHERE for me to put it in

and yes I've spent an hour on the phone to apple....

any ideas thanks

Not sure what to suggest.  intKw it that you are using Yosemiiptw on the Mac and iOS 8.1.1 on the iPad....

I had this issue with a Mavericks machine. A Yosemite upgrade did the trick.

In any case c couple of things to keep in mind.

- make sure bluetooth is activated on both your iOS and Mac device

- make sure your Mac is running the most up to date version of iTunes (12.0.1)

- after you make the request to add an iTunes library on the iOS device you should see the code

- now an icon should appear in the menu bar of iTunes. I have highlighted it in orange

- click on it and now you should have the opportunity to enter the code on the phone

If that doesn't work out you may need to get a bit more drastic e.g. deleting iTunes and re-downloading it.

Remote on my iPhone 4S worked fine but on my iPad mini it stopped working and I was going around in circles.

So after seeing this thread I thought I'd try again. switched on selected my iTunes library and hey presto it's working.

Didn't even have to try pairing or anything, friggin computers.

thanks greg

i'll try over the weekend

its worked all fine for 2 years and now with the os8 it failed

in the past i could find the tab to enter the code easily but that seems to have "gone"

on the reviews or the Remote app there seems to be a lot of people having the same problem

I've never had to enable bluetooth before and the main problem is that there is nowhere to enter the code number

frustrating as I like iTunes with audio nirvana /ipad control etc

cheers
