Second hand SU price

Posted by: michele.re on 21 November 2014

Hello,

I have seen that one of the benefit of naim is that usually naim second hand prices remains high after years and years, so the value of your hifi remains high.

In the case of the SU however I have seen low prices if compared to the list price, especially in consideration of the fact that the SU is still on sale and is a relatively new equipment.

I wonder if I am right and which is the reason of this devaluation.

I think the naim website for the SU says it all: "rules are there to be broken". And then there is the new bluetooth module in the new SUs...

Probably discounted no more or less than any other product over a given timescale. So you may be wrong...

Mmmm, I can't believe that not having the BT could let the price drop much. If this would be the reason, then the SU second hand price would be bound to get lower and lower in the years to come

But it is plently of naim discontinued items that still have a very good price quotation. Not only the old glorious pres and amps, but also the more recent ones

lower end pre power amp combos seem to be the most discounted I've seen...

I don't know what you consider to be a low price for a used Superuniti, but the few I've seen for auction recently, I've been surprised by the high prices they've sold for.

Without details of the prices you're talking about, it's hard to make a judgement. I'm not aware of having seen any below £2000, so I would still consider that pretty good.

Well I've just bought a Ex-dem SuperUniti in the black Friday deals at Sevenoaks for under £2k, but that's not a typical used value as they have fetching more than that on the 'bay of evil' and lots of dealers are refreshing stock to the latest Bluetooth equipped model

I have found on the net even lower prices, from 1,2 to 1,6 Keuros. But I have the feeling that at least some of them are fake...

I monitor the used sites frequently and at least in North America I am not seeing the bottom falling out of the re-sale market for Superuniti. Prices here seem to be ranging in the low 4 K range... which seems about right to me. Also, i recently did a 1 for 1 swap of my SU for an NDX... which I would say demonstrates the ability of the SU to maintain it's resale value.
