Muso, MacBook Air, Spotify, OSX 10.10

The above is one of the ways I stream music to my Muso. Firstly, the MacBook does not appear to intuitively connect to the Muso, I have to assign it manually through System Preferences, and sometimes the Muso isn't there at all though my B&W A7 is always there. I get dropouts reasonably frequently and controlling sound output appears to be a bit of lottery. Unless I crank up the Muso using the remote controller, the output volume seems to consider maximum volume to be at whatever level it was on when I used the Muso last. Thus, I may have to crank it up the volume to full on the Muso using the remote or Muso's own volume controller and then reduce it to a tolerable level on the MacBook Air. Oh, and don't close the cover of the MacBook Air as that terminates the music as well. Not blaming Naim as it is better on the iPad and iPhone. When you get all things in conjunction it sounds pretty good though. Anyone else with the same configuration experiencing same issues? iTunes appears to be more tolerant.

You can save a trip to System Preferences by option clicking on the sound icon in the menu bar.

Doesn't work like that, at least not on my MacBook Air. The sound icon simply moves volume up and down but as far as connectivity is concerned, ie to find a Muso you have to go to System Preferences.  Actually, right now I'm typing this on my iPad and the furthest away hardware on my network is my A7 but when I bring up the AirPlay icon the only thing missing is the Muso. Looks like when I switched the Muso off when connected to the TV it was lost to AirPlay because when I went to Spotify on the Muso App it returned. Plenty yet for the SEs to get their teeth into on this network, multi hardware switching software, and to be fair am sure it's not anthing like all on the Naim side.

Depending on the vintage of your keyboard it may or may not be marked option. Sorry. Here are the traditional Mac modifier keys.
