Superuniti - superb in LoFi solution

Having donated my Arcam FMJ second system in my home office to my Son, (for his new flat) I decided to treat myself to a Superuniti. I had been dithering for a while hoping for a DR upgraded Superuniti but the temptation of the recent Sevenoaks HiFi sale of ex-display Superunitis at under £2,000 was just too tempting.
I have set up the SU on a metal multi shelf unit used for general storage, It is connected via QED flat speaker cable to a pair of Dali Lektor 2 bookshelf speakers which actually are sitting on bookshelves. The link to my HDX is via a very average network over mains solution until I get around to running Cat 5.
Now in theory this should all sound pretty average, however the pedigree and amazing flexibility of the SU delivers an astonishingly acceptable sound. Ok so I cant stream my 192 KHz downloads over this dodgy network but everything else is a delight. My main aerial is not run to this room so I have a cheap outdoor aerial stuck on the end of the garage wall and all radio sounds excellent FM/DAB and IRadio.
Cd's played from my old Arcam FMJ CD 36 also sound surprisingly good.
When I get around to extending my Office the SU will be paired with more appropriate speakers but in the meantime I have a huge smile on my face. For Someone moving into Naim Hi Fi the SU presents a first rate starting point and will be tolerant of a wide range of partners as budget allows.
